Hector is now equipped with the Traffic Jam Assist (TJA) system, which provides valuable assistance in maintaining the car at a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
Hector is also equipped with first-in-segment intelligent auto-turn indicators. The turn indicator lights go on or off automatically depending on the steering angle. This is particularly useful when the driver misses out on using the turn signals while changing lanes or making a U-turn.
MG Hector is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.5-litre turbocharged inter-cooled petrol engine produces 141hp at 5,000rpm and 250Nm of torque between 1,600 to 3,600rpm. This engine is available in both six-speed manual and CVT transmission options.
The diesel version is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which generates 168hp at 3,750rpm and 350Nm of torque between 1,750 to 2,500rpm. This engine is limited to a six-speed manual transmission.
The MG Hector sprints from zero to 100kmph in 14.3 seconds and attains speeds of up to 195kmph. The SUV has a strong mid-range and makes quick progress after 2,500rpm.
The suspension has been tuned for Indian road conditions and it handles bad road sections comfortably. However, the exclusion of the petrol-hybrid version means the customers will now have to settle for slightly lower fuel efficiency figures.
