Uncover the diverse offerings within the Maruti Suzuki WagonR lineup and find the perfect fit for your driving needs.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon -R

With a journey spanning two decades, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR has had an appreciable record in India as a preferred small car for families. The latest iteration of WagonR has become more versatile than ever in terms of features, variants, and engine options. There are two engine options across four variants of the WagonR, all of which are well-differentiated in terms of features. So, if you are looking for a small car with a compact footprint and is spacious and economical to run, the WagonR is the car for you.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR: Specifications of Engine and Transmission

There are two engine options across four variants of the WagonR LXI, VXI, ZXI, and ZXI+.

  • The lower-spec LXI and VXI variants get a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which claims 66.6 PS and 89 Nm.

  • The ZXI and ZXI+ variants come with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, which offers better performance with 89.7 PS and 113 Nm.

  • The WagonR lineup has two transmission choices - a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT (base-spec LXI only gets the manual).

  • As an option, the LXI and VXI variants are available with a CNG powertrain option and a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR: Dimensions

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR has a length of 3,655 mm, a width of 1,620 mm and a height of 1,675 mm. While its wheelbase is 2,435mm and its boot space measures 341 litres, it has a turning radius of 4.7 m, making it a good car for steering around the city roads.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR: Features Offered Across All Variants

The different features offered across the four variants of the WagonR are as follows:

LXI Petrol Manual and CNG Manual

  • The LXI is the base-spec variant of the WagonR, which is packed with only essentials like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, and reverse parking sensors.

  • It also gets power steering, manual AC, and front power windows.

  • You should buy this variant only if you are restricted to your budget or want a bare-bones car.

VXI Petrol Manual, Petrol AMT, and CNG manual

  • The VXI variant adds a few inclusions like remote keyless entry, a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth and two speakers, electrically-adjustable ORVMs, and tilt-adjustable steering.

  • On the outside, it gets full-wheel covers and body-coloured door handles, which give it a classier look.

  • If you are low on budget, we recommend this variant for the additional features for a small premium over the LXI.

ZXI Petrol Manual and Petrol AMT

  • The mid-spec ZXI variant of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR has a more powerful 1.2-litre engine than the 1.0-litre engine available in LXI and VXI variants.

  • The only feature addition in this ZXI variant is the steering-mounted audio control switches.

  • Buy this variant over the VXI only if you want a slightly more powerful engine with the same features.

ZXI+ Petrol Manual and Petrol AMT

  • The top-spec ZXI+ variant gets modern features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and steering-mounted voice command controls.

  • Other features you get over the ZXI variant are fog lamps, rear wiper and defogger, alloy wheels, electrically-adjustable ORVMs, tachometer, and two additional speakers.

The VXI and ZXI+ variants have 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmission choices. While they do not get the convenience of a parking camera, they come equipped with parking sensors, which should help you park your car conveniently.

Conclusion Which Maruti Suzuki WagonR Variant Makes the Most Sense?

If you like the Maruti WagonR and are confused about which variant suits you best, let us help you narrow down your choices.

  • If you want the additional power of a 1.2-litre engine and modern features like a touchscreen infotainment system and steering-mounted controls, the ZXI+ should be your choice.

  • If you think that the performance from the 1.0-litre engine is adequate for you and can make do with the basic essential features, the VXI variant makes more sense at a much lower price point.
