Maruti Suzuki, the car king of India, is set to launch another model as part of its Nexa series, which has already entered the market with a 7-seater SUV that is based on the Grand Vitara. This model will be positioned right above the 5-seater Grand Vitara and just below the Invicto. It promises customers looking for something more spacious, without straddling the MPV boundary, to buy into this creature from Maruti.
Digital renderings based on the latest spy photographs show us what the final production model may look like, although it is still undergoing road testing. Automotive illustrator and visual artist Pratyush Rout envisions a totally different new twist on the very same styling language of Maruti with hints from camouflaged test mules spotted roaming the several Indian highways.
New Looks, More Features, Same Footprint
The size, in all likelihood, is going to be reminiscent of the standard Grand Vitara, but there are radical changes up front with a completely new fascia: refinements in headlamp setup with integrated LED DRLs, fog lamps that may even offer cornering functionality, and a radar sensor that has been prominently placed the grille area would suggest that it may come with Level-2 ADAS-tech-a first in India for any Maruti vehicle.
All these contribute to a sense of premium touch along with chrome door handles, window lining, silver roof rails, UV-cut, and a striking connected LED tail-light signature. A brand new design in alloy wheels adds another edge to its identity.
This should be the same as that of the 5-seater Grand Vitara. It comes connected to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter. Expectedly, a strong hybrid could also be introduced using the 1.5L petrol engine bolstered with an eCVT.
The new and intense competition from Hyundai Alcazar and an upcoming premium Kia MPV are set to compete against the Maruti Grand Vitara 7 Seater's impending launch. It's going to capture a fair market share with respect to hybrid technology, big-time styling, and a completely loaded cabin as per larger family needs. Official launch expected in the near future.
