Mahindra has made significant strides in increasing the production of its vehicles, which has led to a notable reduction in the backlog of orders. As of July 2024, the Scorpio range had 58,000 open bookings, a substantial drop of nearly 33% compared to the 86,000 open orders recorded in May. This reduction is a clear indication of Mahindra's improved production capabilities, allowing the automaker to cater to more customers in a shorter period.
The reduction in the Scorpio's open bookings is part of a broader effort by Mahindra to meet the high demand for its vehicles. Despite this progress, the company still faces a considerable challenge, with over 1.78 lakh units yet to be delivered across its entire model range.
The Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic continue to be in high demand, with these models registering around 12,000 fresh bookings every month. This consistent demand highlights the strong market presence and appeal of the Scorpio lineup.
The trend of decreasing open orders isn't limited to the Scorpio range alone. Mahindra's popular off-roader, the Thar, has also seen a reduction in its backlog, with open orders dropping by approximately 29% over the past few months.
As Mahindra continues to ramp up production, the company is focused on reducing the backlog further while meeting the steady stream of new orders. The drop in open bookings for the Scorpio range reflects Mahindra's commitment to improving delivery times and enhancing customer satisfaction.
