Kia developed the Carens after introducing the Seltos and Sonet to the general public. With choices for six or seven seats, this was a high-end, technologically advanced, three-row crossover MPV.
In India as well as in South Korea, Kia is testing a facelift for the Carens. The lighting components of this MPV are seen in the most recent spy photos taken in South Korea.
The Spy shots of Kia Carens being completely camouflaged
Only a small portion of the test mule's lighting components could be seen in these spy photos since it was fully hidden. The Carens makeover offers a new front and back appearance while maintaining its form, as shown in the most recent spy photos.
In this manner, Kia maintains the majority of the sheet metal the same as the current model.
Exterior Highlights in the current model
With LED DRLs on top and headlights positioned just below, the current model has a split headlamp design. Kia is implementing the split design strategy in a novel way with the facelifted model. With a linked approach, the LED DRLs on top smoothly flow into the headlights below them in the form of an inverted L.
These headlights appear to have a triple-barrel reflector design and are encased in a triangular form. One barrel is used for high beam and two for low beam. These reflectors appear to be filled with LEDs. The worldwide and high-end EV5 crossover electric SUV from Kia has a similar look.
Expectations from the new facelift
It should be mentioned that the Next Gen Seltos appears to be missing the LED fog lights that Kia is providing with the Carens facelift. It appears that an ADAS radar module is located up front. The wheels are completed with a dual-tone look and a geometric pattern. Like the Mahindra XUV3XO, the rear LED taillights on the Kia Carens appear to be a single unit with an edgy design that flows downward at the ends.
Conclusion
The Kia Carens facelift is shaping up to be a significant update in the premium MPV segment. With spy shots revealing new design elements, such as a refreshed lighting setup, a potential ADAS module, and modern styling cues, the facelifted model promises to be a more advanced and visually striking version of the current Carens. Additionally, Kia’s simultaneous testing of both ICE and EV variants suggests a broader lineup catering to different market demands.
As the launch approaches, more details are expected to emerge, giving us a clearer picture of what to expect from this upgraded MPV.
