Skoda Octavia Diesel variant will launch in September in the Indian Vertical.

This year marks the Skoda Octavia's return to the Indian market, and a diesel engine will be included in the lineup. Five years after its parent firm, VW Group, phased out all of its oil burners, Skoda has decided to reintroduce the diesel powerplant, as we reported from Auto Expo 2025.

Skoda Auto India brand director Petr Janeba stated on the sidelines of the Octavia RS drive that the diesel-powered sedan will reach India in time for the holiday season.

Skoda Octavia Diesel India Launch Date and Specifications

The official said, "I think late September should be the date before the festive season comes," when asked about the expected arrival of the Octavia diesel. Additionally, he affirmed that the model will be sold in the UK and imported as a CBU under the Indian government's GSR 870 regulation.

Indian-Spec Octavia Diesel to get 150hp engine with an automatic gearbox

The UK-spec Octavia diesel that is being introduced to our market sports a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that generates 150 horsepower, according to Skoda India's brand director. The standard installation will be an automatic gearbox. According to Janeba, there is now an internal debate about the Octavia diesel's pricing.

Conclusion

The reintroduction of the Skoda Octavia diesel variant in India marks a significant move by the brand, catering to enthusiasts who prefer diesel-powered sedans. With its UK-spec 2.0L engine, automatic gearbox, and CBU import status, the Octavia diesel is set to offer a premium driving experience. Expected to arrive by late September, just in time for the festive season, this launch signals Skoda’s commitment to expanding its portfolio in the Indian market. Pricing details are yet to be finalized, but the return of diesel power is sure to attract attention from buyers seeking a balance of performance and efficiency.
