In order to introduce the Jetour T2 SUV to India under the JSW brand, JSW Motors has teamed up with Chinese automaker Chery.
The SUV, which will have a plug-in hybrid drivetrain and be produced locally, is anticipated to be available in dealerships in the third quarter of 2026.
The independent passenger mobility branch of JSW Group, JSW Motors Limited, has announced a partnership with Chery Automobile in China to launch the Jetour T2 SUV in India later this year.
This is JSW's first attempt to sell cars under its own brand in the Indian market, breaking away from its current joint venture with MG Motor. The company's new plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, will assemble the JSW-badged T2 SUV, which is scheduled to make its debut by the third quarter of 2026.
What the Jetour T2 Provides
The Jetour T2 is a big, boxy SUV with a tough appearance that is somewhat evocative of vintage off-road styles. It is larger than several competitors in the market since it is built on a monocoque chassis instead of a conventional ladder-frame layout, with dimensions of about 4.7 meters in length and 2 meters in width.
Though lengthier seven-seat versions are available in other international markets, the Indian version is anticipated to have five seats.
The plug-in hybrid drivetrain of the T2 is the main attraction. The SUV has been available in other regions with a 1.5-liter petrol engine and electric motors, though specifics regarding the version arriving in India are still awaited.
With a battery pack that can provide over 130+ km of pure electric range under specific testing cycles, this arrangement generates a combined power of about 221 bhp and 390 Nm.
Features, Costs, and Expectations
The Jetour T2 has several modern amenities in addition to its hybrid drivetrain, such as a big central touchscreen, digital driver display, panoramic sunroof, advanced driver-assist systems (Level 2 ADAS), and ambient lighting. Because of these characteristics, it is positioned as a feature-rich mid-size SUV.
Although specific prices for India have not yet been disclosed, references to prices in other areas point to competitive positioning. For instance, a front-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid model costs about ₹35 lakh at retail in the United Arab Emirates; after local assembly and taxes are taken into account, this price may be comparable in India.
JSW Motors is making a name for itself in the Indian SUV market with the Jetour T2, a hybrid option that combines functionality and cutting-edge technology. Given the growing customer interest in fuel-efficient and electrified vehicles, their debut may lead to new competition with incumbent competitors.
