Hyundai officially unveiled the facelifted Ioniq 6 in the 2025 Seoul Motor Show, with the redesigned models featuring some minor yet substantial upgrades in the design and the features. Not that it is just three years off its global launch, but the front end is sharper, it has redesigned wheels, and there is a refined cabin.
However, the star at this occasion is the new N Line edition, which for the very first time brings a bit of sportiness to an electric sedan.
So even after this, coming to the powertrain option, there would be no changes- it still earns- in fact, not all-new as other options of the powertrain: 53kWh and 77.4kWh battery packs up to 321hp for all-wheel-drive spec.
Upgraded Exterior with Motorsport-Inspired Design
Coming closer to the RN22e concept car of Hyundai, the changes include an even more assertive front end defining the facelift with slimmer pixel lights, a raised bonnet, and newly configured, more aerodynamically optimized curved front bumpers. The changes also continue along the side profile, with new alloy wheels and blacked-out side skirts, while the rear bumper now sports chrome accents and a more subtle boot lip spoiler instead of the previous ducktail wing.
The N Line variant boosts this even further by adding even more sporty design elements, such as:
A more aggressive front bumper with an N Line badge
Exclusive bespoke alloy wheels
Blacked-out body panels for a more dramatic appearance
There are no mechanical upgrades for the N Line version, but it is to give a glimpse of the imminent Ioniq 6 N, an all-new high-performance electric vehicle to be introduced later this year.
Subtle Interior Improvements for Increased Comfort
Inside, most of the futuristic cabin design of the Ioniq 6 has been retained, though the company has made some modest significant additions and upgrades such as:
A newly-designed three-spoke steering wheel gives a contemporary touch
Newly arranged center console controls for convenience
A much larger climate control display
Upgraded door trims with premium materials
These, however, are among the unchanged features thrown in with its primary assets, such as the dual 12.3-inch display for infotainment and instrumentation, ambient lighting, 8-way electronically adjustable front seats, as well as Hyundai's Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality.
Unique to the Ioniq 6 are the digital rearview and side mirrors, which display real-time camera feeds on small screens at both ends of the dashboard.
Powertrain & Performance: No Mechanical Changes But Among the Most Powerful
Hyundai will keep the same powertrain options for the Ioniq 6 facelift. In other words, buyers still get two options in terms of battery pack:
53kWh Battery (Single Motor, RWD, 149hp)
77.4kWh Battery (Single Motor, RWD, 225hp)
77.4kWh Battery (Dual Motor, AWD, 321hp)
Charging speed continues to be capped at 233k, and, however, Hyundai has not breached the official driving range for the facelifted model yet.
The previous Ioniq 6 (with the big battery) boasts the potential to go up to 614 km (WLTP cycle) on a full charge. Expect a similar or marginally improved range due to the aerodynamic refinements.
Launch & Availability: Will It Come to India?
The finalisation of the launch and the availability of the model have yet to be confirmed by Hyundai, but the Ioniq 6 facelift model is expected to reach international markets within some months.
For the time being, India is home to the Ioniq 5 model only. It showcased an early pre-facelift Ioniq 6 car at Auto Expo 2023 to assess the interest of consumers, personally inviting consumers to experience the car.
Still, an official announcement has to be made regarding the Indian launch. Still, should the sales for premium EVs pick up, then perhaps Hyundai will take the plunge and launch the facelifted version.
A Beautiful Upgrade with Sports Twists
There won't be any mechanical improvements added to the Hyundai Ioniq 6 facelift, but sharper design, improvements in the cabin features, and the sporty N Line-trim make it more attractive compared to electric-powered cars. With good performance, a futuristic look, and potential range capabilities, the Ioniq 6 is still one of the frontrunners as an electric car grows in the market.
Another upcoming high-performance use- the Ioniq 6 N- could take an entirely different route for an electrifying driving experience for enthusiasts in the future, defining more what vehicles can be with Hyundai's electric models. For now, the facelifted Ioniq 6 is an evolution of an existing, well-composed electric sedan.
