The i20 N Shadow Edition is a 100-unit limited run for Australia, featuring matte bronze alloys and exclusive Alcantara interior trim.
It retains the standard model's 201 hp, 1.6-litre turbocharged engine and is priced from Rs 27.79 lakh.
Before the next-generation Hyundai i20 makes its global rounds, the current i20 N is getting one final moment in the spotlight. Hyundai has introduced the i20 N Shadow Edition exclusively in Australia, and with just 100 units earmarked for sale, it is very much a collector's send-off for a car that has built a loyal following down under.
It is worth noting that Hyundai's N-badged models sit in a different league from the softer N Line variants. The i20 N is a proper hot hatch, and Australia happens to be one of the few markets where it is sold in this form. The Shadow Edition, therefore, carries real significance for enthusiasts in the region.
Visual Upgrades That Make a Statement
The most immediately striking change on the Shadow Edition is its set of 18-inch flow-forged alloy wheels finished in matte bronze. The spoked design gives the car a more premium, purposeful look compared to the standard model's wheels, which follow a more conventional contemporary style. Black wheel nuts add another layer of sporting intent, while door-sill decals in black complete the exterior differentiation.
Colour choices have been kept deliberately tight. Buyers can pick between Atlas White and Phantom Black, a contrast to the five shades available on the standard i20 N. Features carried over from the regular car include a front splitter with red garnish, an aggressive grille with N badging, red brake callipers, Pirelli P-Zero tyres, and a chrome-tipped exhaust.
Alcantara Trim and Tyre-Tread Floor Mats Inside
Step inside the Shadow Edition and the upgrades continue in a thoughtful, detail-oriented manner. The gear knob and steering wheel receive Alcantara trim, lending the cabin a more tactile, race-inspired feel. The steering wheel also features a Performance Blue 12 o'clock marker, a subtle but meaningful nod to the N performance brand's identity.
Perhaps the most distinctive interior touch is the rubber floor mats, which are patterned after the tread design of the Pirelli P-Zero tyres fitted to the car. It is the kind of quirky, cohesive detailing that makes a special edition feel genuinely considered rather than merely cosmetic.
The rest of the cabin mirrors the standard i20 N specification. That means a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a matching 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, built-in satellite navigation, wireless charging, USB-C ports, a BOSE premium audio system, and the Bluelink connected car suite.
Safety cover comes via Hyundai's SmartSense platform, which includes blind spot collision avoidance, lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, and rear cross traffic collision avoidance, among others.
Same Hot Hatch Heart Under the Bonnet
Mechanically, the Shadow Edition is unchanged from the car it is based on. Power comes from a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 201 hp and 275 Nm of torque, sent to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox.
A limited-slip differential is part of the package, as one would expect from a proper performance hatch.
Pricing for the Shadow Edition
Buyers opting for the Atlas White variant will pay AU$41,500, which converts to approximately Rs 27.79 lakh. The Phantom Black version carries a small premium at AU$42,095, or roughly Rs 28.15 lakh. By comparison, the standard i20 N is priced at AU$37,500 in Australia.
