How Renault Kwid Fares Ahead Of The Tata Tiago And Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Here is How Renault Kwid Fares ahead of the Tata Tiago And Maruti Suzuki Celerio

When comparing the Renault Kwid with the Tata Tiago and Maruti Suzuki Celerio, the Kwid stands out for its distinctive design and fuel efficiency. With a spacious interior and tech features, it competes well in its segment. However, buyers should weigh factors like performance and brand preference. The Kwid's affordability and unique style make it a compelling choice in the entry-level car market, offering a blend of practicality and design flair.

Renault Kwid

The small car segment in India is relevant to many first-time car buyers. And for such buyers, the Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago and Maruti Suzuki Celerio are three potent options. The Kwid is priced much lower than the Tiago and Celerio, but it puts up a strong case for itself in comparison to the other two. Here is how Kwid differs from the Tiago and Celerio and can be a car of your choice and preference:

Renault Kwid vs Tata Tiago - How different are the two?

Compared to the Renault Kwid, Tata Tiago feels one category above in all the possible parameters, be it the performance, dimensions or the quality of the build.

Kwid vs Tiago - Design

  • Compared to the rugged, SUV-like design of the Kwid, Tiago has a more conventional design like a traditional hatchback.

  • While the Kwid has an upright stance with a high ground clearance, Tiago looks more typical with a slanted bonnet line.

  • Tiago feels like a bigger car between the two with larger dimensions. It also has a few premium elements compared to the Kwid such as projector headlamps, pull-back door handles, alloy wheels and a rear wiper.

Kwid vs Tiago - Interior

  • Both hatchbacks have modern features including steering-mounted audio controls, a push start-stop button and a fully-digital instrument console.

  • Both get a touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

  • Tiago has additional features such as automatic climate control and a push-start-stop button.

  • Tiago offers you more space, better build quality, fit and finish levels and premium chrome garnish at places.

Kwid vs Tiago - Engine and transmission

  • The 1.2-litre petrol engine of the Tata Tiago is larger and more powerful than the 1.0-litre petrol engine of the Kwid.

  • While Tiago's engine claims 86 PS and 113 Nm, Kwid's smaller engine produces 68 PS and 91 Nm.

  • Both cars are offered with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmissions.

Renault Kwid vs Maruti Suzuki Celerio - How different are they?

Like the Tata Tiago, Maruti Suzuki Celerio also feels one notch above the Renault Kwid in all the parameters.

Kwid vs Celerio - Design

  • While the Kwid features a heightened stance with raised bonnet line and high ground clearance, Celerio plays safer with its conventional lines of a hatchback, including a sloping bonnet.

  • Kwid has a squared-off design with angular body lines, while Celerio has a rounded theme for its front grille, headlamps and tail lamps.

  • Kwid comes with daytime running LEDs as standard across the range, which are not present in Celerio even as an option.

  • Celerio gets alloy wheels and a rear wiper and a washer. Kwid does not have these even in the top-spec variants of Kwid.

Kwid vs Celerio - Interior

  • The cabin of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio feels larger and offers you more space over that of the Kwid and marginally better fit and finish levels too.

  • The Kwid can appeal more to you with its youthful elements, like a fully-digital instrument console and a larger-sized touchscreen infotainment system.

  • Both the cars come with manual AC, all four power windows and steering-mounted audio controls. However, Celerio offers a push start-stop button as an additional feature.

Kwid vs Celerio - Engine and transmission

  • Both Kwid and Celerio feature 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engines under their hood, but Celerio's engine feels more refined and vibration-free at higher RPMs.

  • While Kwid claims 68 PS and 91 Nm from its engine, Celerio's 1.0-litre engine develops slightly lesser 66.6 PS and 89 Nm. However, Celerio's fuel economy is higher in comparison.

  • A 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT are the two transmission choices in Kwid and Celerio.

Conclusion - Is Renault Kwid a better option than Tiago and Celerio?

Although the Renault Kwid is cheaper than Tiago and Celerio, it misses features such as the push start-stop button and auto AC. However, in terms of performance, fuel economy and space on offer, the Kwid is not too far behind the other two.

The only area where the Kwid outshines both Celerio and Tiago is the ease of driving. The shorter length and turning radius make driving and parking the Kwid easier than the other two. Given the massive price difference, Kwid makes a lot of sense if you want to buy a new car on a restricted budget.
