From January 1 to January 31, 20,415 traffic offenders were issued challans totaling Rs 1.2 crores by the Gurugram Traffic Police for driving on the wrong side of the road, according to the police.
According to Virender Vij, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for traffic, Gurugram Police carried out special campaigns and routinely inspected cars in different locations to effectively combat drivers who were operating their vehicles improperly.
Drivers were discovered to be driving on the wrong side of the road and were challenged following the regulations during the check. The open disregard for traffic laws, according to Traffic Police authorities, is quite concerning since wrong-side driving can result in the deaths of several pedestrians and other drivers. “Gurugram Police’s primary goal is to facilitate travel and ensure safety by managing traffic systematically and efficiently. He went on to say that driving in the wrong lane or on the wrong side of the road is the primary cause of accidents and that commuters may be in greater danger if they commit this infraction during rush hour or at night.
