The country’s prominent car manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Audi, Tata, and Mercedes-Benz, have announced price hikes for all the new cars and SUVs from January 2023. The reason behind the rise is an increase in commodity prices.
Kia: The company will increase the price by up to 50,000 for their entire model from January 2023. This is going to be applied to all models after 31st December. Currently, Kia offers Seltos, Carens, Sonet, EV6, and Carnival in the country.
Maruti Suzuki: India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, also announced a price hike, depending on the models. The company also stated that, apart from commodity prices, regulatory requirements from the government are one of the primary reasons behind the price increase. Maruti Suzuki currently has S-Presso, Swift, Wagon R, Alto, Baleno, Alto K10, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Eeco, Ignis, XL6, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, and Brezza in its portfolio.
Audi: It is also one of the largest carmakers, who announced the hike of its entire line-up of models by up to 1. %. The Audi mentioned input and operational costs as the significant reason behind the hike in price. As per now, its line-up models include S5, A4, A6, A8 L, Q3, Q5, Sportback, Q7 ,Q8, Rs 5 Sportback, e-tron, RSQ8, e-tron GT, and e-tron Sportback.
Tata Motors: Like other companies, Tata Motors also increased the prices and mentioned the upcoming RDE values as the main reasons behind the hike in car prices. The company currently have Altroz, Harrier, Nexon, Nexon EV, Safari, Punch, Tiago, Tigor, Tiago EV, and Tigor EV in their lined-up model.
Mercedes-Benz: Mercedes-Benz is also increasing the prices of their lined-up models by %. They have mentioned logistic expenses and increasing input as the reason behind the increasing costs. It currently has A-Class, A-Class hatchback, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, EQB, EQC, EQS, GLA, GLB, GLC, GLC Coupe, GLE, GLE Coupe, GLS, G-Class and the two TMayback models of the GLS and S-Class.
