Bookings for BYD India's upcoming Seal electric sedan are now being accepted in advance of the vehicle's March 5, 2024 release date.
The all-electric sedan is scheduled to launch in October after making its debut to the Indian public in 2023 at the Delhi Auto Expo. After the e6 MPV and the Atto 3 SUV, the Seal is BYD's third body style available in India. It is also expected to be the most expensive model the company has ever produced. For a nominal fee of Rs 1 lakh, you can reserve the electric sedan Seal if it piques your interest. Delivery of the vehicle is scheduled to start in April 2024.
BYD Seal: Specifications
The BYD Seal is a sedan with four doors that resembles a coupe. Its dimensions are 4,800 mm × 1,875 mm × 1,460 mm, and its wheelbase is 2,920 mm. It is based on BYD's e-platform 3.0, which also supports the Atto 3 SUV from the company.In terms of length, the BYD Seal is comparable to the Toyota Camry. Being an electric vehicle, it has a 400-liter boot as well as front trunk storage.

Interior: A 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support is located inside the Seal. In addition, it has a heads-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-way power adjustable driver seat with memory function, two wireless phone chargers, and a 10.25-inch digital driver's display.
Safety features: Eight airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, hill hold assist, a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and a full suite of ADAS features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and auto emergency braking, are all standard on the Seal for passenger safety. Additionally, Euro NCAP and ANCAP have awarded the BYD Seal a 5-star crash test safety rating.

BYD Seal: Powertrain
Both the rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions of the Seal, which come with a sizable 82.4 kWh battery pack, will be available for purchase in India at launch. With a single charge, the rear-wheel drive model can achieve up to 570 km of range (WLTP) and produce 308 bhp and 360 Nm of peak torque. With the addition of an electric motor to the front axle, the all-wheel drive variant's power is increased to 523 bhp and 670 Nm, but its range is lowered to 520 km (WLTP). In addition to supporting up to 7 kW AC charging, the Seal's 800V architecture allows for up to 150 kW DC fast charging, making it comparable to some high-end EVs like the Taycan.
The BYD Seal will be positioned above the Atto 3 in the brand's model lineup when it launches on the CBU route in India.
BYD Seal: Price and Rivals
Expected to start at Rs 55 lakh, the BYD seal will be a competitively priced alternative to the BMW i4. It will also serve as a replacement for the Volvo C40 Recharge, Kia EV6, and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
