The Financial year has ended, and with that, a few of the automotive leaders have seen impeccable sales in FY2025. The growth has also been an apple to the eye to watch. For brands such as Mahindra and Maruti, FY2025 marked their best-ever financial year in terms of sales, while other brands like Kia also ended the FY with respectable growth in sales.
Let's have a look at what their sales figures were like.
Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki: Best-Ever Sales
Both Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki have rocked FY2025. Maruti Suzuki, known for its wide appeal, reported a cumulative sale of 22,34,266 units last financial year. Although their domestic numbers dipped slightly in some segments, overall sales, including exports, have grown from 21,35,323 units in FY2024 to over 22 lakh units in FY2025. That's a clear win!
On the other hand, Mahindra saw a huge leap in their numbers. In March alone, they sold 48,048 SUVs in the domestic market – that’s an 18% jump from last year. Cumulatively, Mahindra's FY2025 sales climbed to 5,51,487 units, a 20% boost compared to the previous year. These numbers speak volumes about the strong consumer demand and the effectiveness of their new models.
Skoda’s Record-Breaking Month
Skoda decided to steal the spotlight in March 2025 by hitting a new monthly high with 7,422 units sold. This milestone came after the new Kylaq launch, which has turned heads in the subcompact segment.
Skoda is ramping up production to clear its open bookings of over 15,000 units by the end of May. This impressive performance is a major sign of confidence in the brand's renewed strategy in India.
Other Key Players: Kia, Tata, and Hyundai
Not to be left behind, Kia reported a solid 4% growth over FY2024, with March sales jumping by nearly 19.3% from last year – reaching 25,525 units. Their best-selling model, the Sonet, continues to dominate, contributing about 30% to their sales mix.
Tata Motors faced a slight dip in overall sales with a 3% fall, but still managed to sell over 5.5 lakh passenger vehicles in FY2025. In March, Tata’s domestic sales saw a 3% rise, keeping their market presence steady despite a challenging year.
Hyundai, maintaining its rank as the second-best-selling brand in India, recorded 7,62,052 units in FY2025, though slightly down from last year. In March, their domestic numbers dipped a bit, but exports shot up, showing that their global demand remains strong.
In a nutshell, March 2025 has shown us that the auto market is vibrant and full of surprises. With Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki setting new records, Skoda's record-breaking month, and steady performances from Kia, Tata, and Hyundai, the auto scene is buzzing with growth and opportunity.
