The Formula 1 calendar's most iconic street race returns this weekend as the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix gears up for action. Taking place from May 23 to May 25 on the world-famous Circuit de Monaco, the event combines rich heritage with a notoriously tight and technical layout that tests driver skill like no other venue.
This year’s edition introduces a mandatory two-stop strategy, a rule designed to shake up the usual procession-style racing often seen at Monaco. With overtaking still a rare occurrence on the narrow streets of Monte Carlo, this regulation could inject much-needed unpredictability and open up new strategies for teams and drivers.
For Indian viewers, the session times fall conveniently into the evening. On Friday, Free Practice 1 begins at 5:00 PM IST, followed by Free Practice 2 at 8:30 PM. Saturday sees Free Practice 3 start at 4:00 PM, with qualifying later that evening at 7:30 PM. The race itself is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, at 6:30 PM IST.
All sessions will be available for live streaming in India via the F1 TV and FanCode apps, offering fans full coverage throughout the weekend.
Heading into Monaco, the championship standings are heating up. Oscar Piastri currently leads the title race, though his margin has been cut to just 13 points over his McLaren teammate Lando Norris. Max Verstappen, buoyed by his recent win at Imola, trails Norris by only nine points, setting the stage for an intense three-way battle as the season progresses.
This weekend is also a motorsport festival across the globe. Alongside the Monaco GP, fans can catch the legendary Indy 500, MotoGP action at Silverstone, Formula 2’s Monaco round, and the DTM race at Lausitzring, making it one of the busiest weekends in racing.
As one of the crown jewels of Formula 1, the Monaco Grand Prix promises more than just racing—it brings drama, tension, and history to life on every corner. With new rules, tight championship standings, and a stacked motorsport calendar, the 2025 edition is not to be missed.
