The WagonR has been one of Maruti Suzuki's best-selling cars and has been given a slight refresh for the 2025 model year. The huge news is that six airbags will now be offered as standard fitment across the entire variant lineup.
With this update, the WagonR stands in good company as well, with several Maruti cars receiving massive safety updates.
Pricing and Variants
The car starts at Rs 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level LXi MT and goes up to Rs 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom) for the ZXi+ AGS. Prices have generally gone up by about Rs 13,000, depending upon the variant, owing to the new features added for safety. Compared to MY24, pricing changes are increased for this variant.
Maruti continues to sell the WagonR in four trims: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. CNG options are available for LXi and VXi, while VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+ can be had with an AGS (AMT) gearbox.
Safety Takes Centre Stage
Gone are the days when two airbags were good enough. It is the six airbags in the 2025 model that would be the most significant differential enhancement over the other model and should be highlighted.
Other safety features, like ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, three-point seatbelts, seatbelt reminders for all passengers, etc., are now standard as well. With the addition of these features, the WagonR has stayed in tune with the changing safety norms and the evolving customer expectations.
What Else Is New?
As far as safety is concerned, everything else on the car remains familiar. The design, features, and paint options remain unchanged. The hatchback retains its 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine (65 bhp) and 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol engine (88 bhp). The change here is that both engines meet the more stringent BS6 P2 OBD-2B norm.
Interior features include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, manual air conditioning, power windows for all four doors, central locking, remote locking, and a spacious cabin, along with ample boot space in petrol variants.
With safety now firmly in its favour, the 2025 Maruti WagonR remains a tried-and-trusted hatchback at a wallet-friendly price and is now even better prepared to meet the needs of modern-day urban commuting.
