The popular Hilux pickup from Toyota made its debut with its 2024 facelift, the eighth generation of the model's third consecutive facelift in Australia and Indonesia. This is probably the final update for the current generation of the truck before an entirely new Hilux is released the following year. To maintain competitiveness in the market, the update brings a 48V mild hybrid system along with improved features and cosmetic upgrades.
Major Updates in the upcoming version:
1. Exterior and interior
The majority of the Hilux's cosmetic changes are focused on the vehicle's face. Depending on the trim, new internals are added to the hexagonal grille, and the front bumper has also been redesigned to give it a more aggressive appearance. The door handles, wing mirrors, and fog lamp bezels on higher-spec trims all have gloss black accents in addition to tinted LED headlamps.

Regarding equipment, Hilux models now come equipped with two front and four rear parking sensors as standard from Toyota. Additionally, higher-end models come with dual-zone air conditioning, a wireless charging pad, two rear USB-C ports, and auto up/down on all four windows. On the other hand, the interior is still the same overall.
2. Specifications
The 2024 Hilux's integration of a 48-volt mild hybrid system with its 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is its main feature. With 201 bhp and 420 Nm of torque (500 Nm when using an automatic gearbox), the mild-hybrid configuration improves fuel efficiency and engine smoothness by 6–10%, depending on the trim level. A small battery pack, a belt-driven electric generator, and a DC/DC converter for the engine start/stop system are all part of the system. While precise electric motor output numbers are still unknown, the Europe-spec model has 16 horsepower and 65 Nm of torque, providing a momentary power boost.
3. Features
Numerous new features are included with the new Hilux. Parking sensors on both ends, two USB-C ports at the back, an upgraded interior, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and other features are on the list. It is also possible to opt for additional features like all-power windows, floor carpet, keyless entry and start, and dual-zone climate control.
