Now-a-Days, there has been a lot of difference with regard to amenities in a few of the mass-market cars. A lot of these amenities that were once seen as luxury offerings from a car manufacturer have now entered base-spec offerings.
However, at the same time, barebones base variants with so many misses in features often made buyers sceptical to buy them. But now, many of the newest cars can be seen packed with several amenities in their base-level variants, just like the classics, not straying from the affordability quotient.
Here are the cars that come in with a feature-loaded base variant:
Honda Amaze
Base Variant: V
Price: Rs 8.10 lakh
The Honda Amaze has a fairly high entry point much above its rivals and a good lot of that pricing is because the Japanese carmaker has manufactured it with a lot more features on it.
From steel wheels, the all-LED lighting, and ORVM-mounted turn indicators, the entry-level variant sports a 7-inch semi-digital driver display, an 8-inch touchscreen, manual AC and all-four power windows. It also includes paddle shifters with the CVT (continuously variable automatic transmission) option.
The base model of Honda Amaze covers every basic requirement. These include 6 airbags (as standard), ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and rear parking sensors.
Kia Syros
Base Variant: HTK
Price: Rs 9 lakh
On the outside the entry-level HTK variant of the Kia Syros gets basic amenities like halogen headlights and steel wheels with covers. It also gets flush door handles that alleviate the premiumness of the sub-4m SUV.
There are many premium-features inside including a 12.3-inch touchscreen integrated with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a semi-digital driver's display and 4-speaker sound system. Other equipment includes manual AC, electric windows and steering mounted audio controls.
The safety suite is also loaded up with features like 6 airbags, Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rearview camera and front and rear parking sensors.
Mahindra Roxx Thar
Base Variant: MX1
Price: Rs 12.99 lakh
The base-spec MX1 variant of the Thar Roxx also gets an entry-level set of base amenities with LED projector headlights and 18inch steel wheels, like the HTK variant of Kia Syros.
While it gets fabric upholstery, interior-wise it also gets quite a premium 10.25 inch touchscreen (without Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, though) and analogue dials with multi info display.
Manual air conditioning, all four power windows, push-button start/stop, and a comprehensive safety suite including 6 airbags, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, and 3-point seat belts for all passengers are also part of the kit.
MG Windsor EV
Base Variant: Excite
Price: Rs 14 lakh
The recent introduction from the car manufacturer would be the Windsor EV, and even its base-spec Excite variant comes with many features that belong to the premium segment like a complete LED lighting setup, flush door handles, a 7-inch digital driver display, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity.
Along with all these it also has a 135-degree rear reclining bench seat, auto AC with rear vents, 6 airbags, rear parking camera with sensors, and all four disc brakes.
Tata Curvv EV
Base Variant: Creative
Price: Rs 17.49 lakh
Even this base variant of the Curvv EV gets the Creative equipment-level, which means that you will have all that you need for daily use.
Things that the new Curvv EV brings include LED headlights with connected LED DRLs and flush-type door handles. Although you miss out on the much larger and nice displays, it does get dual 7-inch screens inside for the driver and infotainment.
Other highlights include fabric upholstery, a 6 speaker sound system, auto AC with rear vents, 6-way adjustable driver's seat, and EV-specific features like vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging support.
Being a Tata, safety has also not been compromised with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic parking brake with auto hold and electronic stability control.
Hyundai Creta Electric
Base Variant: Executive
Price: Rs 17.99 lakh
Amazingly a complete end to end inclusive even at a very minimal variant, Hyundai Creta EV has taken the crown of being the cheapest pocket electric from Korea.
Dual 10.25-inch displays, a 6-speaker sound system and dual-zone auto AC further sweeten the deal. And additionally, it gets 6 airbags, rear wiper and washer, disc brakes on all wheels and rear parking camera with sensors.
It has complete LED lighting and 17-inch aerodynamically designed alloy wheels which make the Executive variant more upmarket and premium.
Mahindra BE 6
Base Variant: Pack One
Price: Rs 18.90 lakh
One of the latest new-age SUVs, the BE 6, is also packed with high-end features virtually to the brim in its base-spec “Pack One variant”. As it completely illuminates the area with all LED headlamps, the number will surely not be less as it houses dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, 6 speakers, and an auto-AC with rear vents.
Standard fit will include tilt telescopic adjustable steering wheel, cruise control, and 2-step reclining of rear seats.
Also, it has a robust safety suite with 6 airbags, an electronic parking brake, disc brakes on all wheels, and a rear parking camera with sensors.
Mahindra XEV 9e
Base Variant: Pack One
Price : Rs 21.90 lakh
The Mahindra XEV 9e, despite having all the same features as the BE 6 Pack One, features a triple 12.3-Inch display on the dashboard for the co-driver. In fact, this is a feature pretty much not available in any car in the sub-25 lakh category. Rest of the features and safety suite are similar to BE 6's base variant.
