Tata Curvv vs Citroen Basalt: Bharat NCAP Ratings And Scores Compared

The Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) recently conducted crash tests on several new vehicles, including the Tata Curvv and Citroen Basalt SUV coupes. The results revealed that the Curvv achieved an impressive 5-star rating, consistent with Tata's reputation for safety, while the Basalt secured a commendable 4-star safety rating, indicating Citroen's commitment to enhancing vehicle safety. Tata Curvv Performance

In the frontal offset deformable crash test, the Tata Curvv demonstrated good protection for the driver’s and passenger’s head, neck, and chest. However, the driver's left leg received a marginal rating. In the side movable barrier test, the protection for the driver’s head and abdomen was rated as good, while the chest received an adequate rating. The side pole test further showed that the driver’s head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis received good protection.

For child safety, the dynamic score for the 18-month-old in front and side protection was 7.07 out of 8 and 4 out of 4, respectively. The 3-year-old child scored similarly well with 7.59 out of 8 in frontal protection and a perfect score of 4 out of 4 for side protection.

Citroen Basalt Performance

In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Citroen Basalt provided good protection for the driver’s and co-driver's head and neck. However, the driver’s chest received marginal protection, and the co-driver’s chest was rated as adequate. Both drivers’ thighs received marginal protection, while the driver’s left leg and right leg received marginal and adequate protection, respectively. The co-driver's left leg received adequate protection, while the right leg received good protection.

The Basalt excelled in the side impact test, achieving a full score of 16 out of 16 due to good protection for the head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis. The side pole test also showed good protection across all evaluated areas.

For child safety, the 18-month-old received a perfect score of 8 out of 8 for front protection and 4 out of 4 for side protection. However, the 3-year-old child had a disappointing score of 3.9 out of 8 for frontal impact protection, despite scoring 4 out of 4 for side impact.

In conclusion, both SUV coupes showcase impressive safety features and ratings, with the Tata Curvv slightly edging out the Citroen Basalt in terms of overall safety performance.
