Tesla Model Y Long Wheelbase Premium Launched in India at Rs. 61.99 Lakh

Tesla has expanded its Model Y lineup in India with a long wheelbase Premium variant, priced at Rs. 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new addition brings a six-seat 2+2+2 configuration, a stretched 3,040mm wheelbase, and an 88kWh dual-motor powertrain with a claimed WLTP range of 681km. With the Model Y range now spanning three variants between Rs. 59.89 lakh and Rs. 67.89 lakh, Tesla is making a clear play for family-oriented buyers in India's growing premium electric SUV market.

  • Tesla expands the Model Y range in India to three variants with the addition of a long wheelbase Premium edition priced at Rs. 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

  • The new variant introduces a six-seat 2+2+2 layout underpinned by an extended 3,040mm wheelbase and an 88kWh dual-motor setup with a claimed 681km WLTP range.

Tesla has added a new long wheelbase (LWB) variant to the Model Y range in India, priced at Rs. 61.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With this, the Model Y is now available in three variants, spanning a price bracket of Rs. 59.89 lakh to Rs. 67.89 lakh. It is a measured but meaningful expansion, one that gives Indian buyers a more versatile option without stepping too far outside the existing range's pricing structure.

A Longer Wheelbase That Does Real Work

The defining feature of this new addition is its extended wheelbase of 3,040mm, which has been put to practical use in the form of a six-seat configuration arranged in a 2+2+2 layout.

Compared to the standard Model Y, the LWB variant offers noticeably more rear seat space and improved cabin comfort overall. For families or buyers who regularly carry more than four people, this is the sort of change that shifts the Model Y from being a smart personal car into something altogether more usable on a daily basis.

The Cabin and Its Features

On the outside, the Model Y LWB does not stray from Tesla's established minimalist and aerodynamic design language. The differences reveal themselves once you step inside.

The cabin is fitted with a 16-inch touchscreen infotainment display, dual wireless charging pads, heated and ventilated seats for both the front and second rows, a heated steering wheel, extended under-thigh support for front seat occupants, and pillar-mounted rear air-conditioning vents. It is a well-considered specification list that keeps occupant comfort front and centre.

Performance and Range Figures

Under the skin, the Model Y LWB Premium is powered by an 88kWh battery pack paired with a dual-motor setup. Tesla claims a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of five seconds, while the WLTP-rated range stands at 681km.

Both figures are competitive for the segment, and the range in particular should address the range anxiety that continues to be a consideration for EV buyers in India.

What This Launch Signals for Tesla in India

The arrival of the long wheelbase variant is a clear indication that Tesla is paying attention to what Indian buyers actually want, namely, space, practicality, and the reassurance of a reasonable range.

As demand for larger electric vehicles continues to grow in the country, this addition strengthens the Model Y's case against an increasingly competitive field of premium electric SUVs.
