The Volkswagen Taigun facelift and the VinFast VF MPV 7 both made their official India debuts this week.
Kia and Renault announced ambitious future roadmaps for India, covering EVs, hybrids, and new model launches through 2030.
The Indian automotive calendar has had quieter weeks, but this was not one of them. Between fresh launches and forward-looking brand announcements, there was enough happening to keep buyers and enthusiasts equally engaged.
Volkswagen Taigun Gets a Meaningful Facelift
Volkswagen brought the updated Taigun to market with a starting price of Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). The refresh is not merely cosmetic.
Alongside a redesigned exterior, the facelifted compact SUV gains additional features and a new gearbox paired with its smaller turbocharged petrol engine.
Buyers can now choose from seven variants and nine colour options, with bookings already open. For anyone who has been watching this segment, the updated Taigun makes a considerably stronger case for itself than before.
VinFast Brings an All-Electric MPV to India
Vietnamese automaker VinFast launched the VF MPV 7 at Rs 24.49 lakh, positioning it as an all-electric seven-seater in a segment that has very few electric options.
Available in a single variant with one battery configuration, the MPV claims a driving range of over 500 kilometres on a full charge. It covers the essential feature bases, though buyers seeking an especially feature-rich cabin may find it modest by current standards. That said, the claimed range and the novelty of an affordable electric MPV will likely draw attention.
Kia India Confirms Its Electrification Direction
At its 2026 Investor's Day, Kia India outlined its commitment to both battery electric vehicles and hybrids. The Syros EV is already in the pipeline, and the brand confirmed that both the Carnival MPV and the upcoming Sorento SUV will receive hybrid powertrains for the Indian market. This is a significant step, as it signals Kia's intent to offer electrified choices across multiple vehicle categories rather than concentrating solely on full EVs.
Renault India Plans to Nearly Double Its Model Range by 2030
Renault India used the week to announce an extensive product roadmap. The French carmaker intends to grow its lineup from four models to seven by 2030, covering updates, entirely new nameplates, and its first electric vehicle in India through the upcoming Bridger SUV.
On the technical side, Renault also introduced a new platform called RGEP, which will replace the existing architecture currently used by the Triber and the Kiger. It is a substantial reset, and one that signals genuine long-term commitment to the market.
Renault Duster Deliveries Finally Under Way
Rounding off a busy week for Renault, deliveries of the new Duster commenced across India. The SUV arrived with a broad powertrain range and sharp driving dynamics, earning considerable praise since its reveal. For those who placed a booking, the wait is now over.
