Skoda Kylaq Sportline Coming to India in September 2026

Skoda India has confirmed that the Kylaq will receive a Sportline variant in September 2026, answering persistent customer demand for a sportier version of the popular sub-4m SUV. The new trim is expected to bring blacked-out exterior styling and an all-black cabin, while carrying forward the existing 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. Pricing is likely to stay within the current Rs 7.59 lakh to Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom) bracket.

  • The Skoda Kylaq Sportline is confirmed for a September 2026 India launch, driven by customer demand for a sportier variant of the sub-4m SUV.

  • The new trim is expected to bring blacked-out exterior details and an all-black interior, while the existing 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine carries over unchanged.

The Skoda Kylaq is getting a Sportline variant, and it is coming sooner than most expected. Skoda India brand director Ashish Gupta confirmed the news, stating that "Skoda is doing something with styling elements to give the Kylaq a sporty touch, which will be with the Sportline version coming in September." That September 2026 timeline makes this one of the more eagerly anticipated additions to the sub-4m SUV segment this year.

The Sportline treatment is not a new idea in Skoda's India playbook. The brand has previously rolled it out on both the Kushaq and Slavia, and the Kylaq will follow the same recipe. It is a trim that does not chase outright performance but instead layers on visual aggression, and clearly it has resonated enough with buyers for Skoda to bring it down to its most accessible model.

A Full RS Version Remains Off the Table for Now

Segment constraints make a performance Kylaq difficult to justify

For those holding out hope for something wilder, Gupta was candid about the limitations, saying "The sub-4m segment is defined by engine and vehicle sizes, and within that, getting a pure-performance vehicle is difficult." That is not entirely surprising given how tightly regulated the sub-4m category is in India, both by taxation structures and practical engineering constraints.

On the subject of a 1.5-litre TSI engine for the Kylaq, Gupta acknowledged that "customers would like to have a 1.5L TSI for the Kylaq, so it's under consideration, but whether it's possible or not and whether the investment is justified remains to be seen." So while that door is not shut entirely, it is certainly not open yet.

What the Kylaq Sportline Could Look Like

Expect black badges, blacked-out trim, and an all-black cabin

The decision to introduce the Sportline variant is based on customer demand, and the new trim is expected to be positioned below the Prestige trim, similar to how Skoda has structured the Slavia and Kushaq Sportline variants. That positioning also suggests the overall price range is unlikely to shift from its current Rs 7.59 lakh to Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom) bracket.

In terms of styling, the Kylaq Sportline is expected to receive blacked-out exterior treatment consistent with its siblings, including black badges, black outside rearview mirrors, a black roof, faux skid plates on the front and rear bumpers, and black exterior door handles. Inside, an all-black theme and aluminium pedals are anticipated.

Powertrain Stays the Same, But One Question Lingers

The Kylaq Sportline will continue with the familiar 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 115hp and 178Nm, with both manual and automatic transmission options expected to carry over.

Notably, the 1.0-litre TSI Kushaq received an 8-speed automatic gearbox with its March 2026 facelift, yet the Kylaq is yet to receive a similar update, which leaves a small but interesting question mark hanging over the Sportline's automatic option as the launch approaches.
