Audi Nuvolari Supercar Unveiled With 1,001 PS

Audi has pulled the wraps off the Nuvolari, its long-awaited successor to the R8 supercar. Powered by a Lamborghini-derived 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 plug-in hybrid setup producing 1,001 PS, the Nuvolari sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds and tops out at 350 km/h. With production limited to 499 units and a striking design that blends futuristic aggression with motorsport heritage, the Nuvolari signals a bold new chapter for Audi's performance arm.

  • The Audi Nuvolari is the official successor to the R8, limited to 499 units and powered by a Lamborghini-derived hybrid V8 producing 1,001 PS.

  • It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds, hits 350 km/h flat out, and features five driving modes, including a dedicated Track setting.

The R8's True Successor Has Finally Arrived

When Audi retired the R8, it left a gap that the TT RS was never really going to fill. The R8 had a way of making you feel like you were getting away with something, a proper mid-engined supercar that somehow wore everyday number plates.

Now, Audi has officially unveiled the Nuvolari, and it is clear the brand was not content simply filling that gap. It wanted to blow it wide open.

The Nuvolari shares its powertrain architecture with the Lamborghini Temerario, drawing from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a plug-in hybrid setup. That setup includes a 7.3 kWh battery pack and three axial flux electric motors, two of which drive the front axle while the third sits between the engine and gearbox.

The result is a combined output of 1,001 PS, making it marginally more powerful than the Temerario and just 15 PS shy of the Lamborghini Revuelto's V12.

A Design That Borrows From Two Legends

The Nuvolari's styling draws from Audi's Concept C study but pushes the aggression considerably further.

Up front, quad-channel LED headlights carry a visual language reminiscent of a Bugatti Chiron, while the rear features a quad LED tail light cluster and a single-piece central exhaust. Three rectangular air intakes feed the mid-mounted engine, and clean, clutter-free sheet metal runs the full length of the body.

Viewed from the side and rear, the Nuvolari reads more like a Lamborghini Murcielago evolution than a direct continuation of the R8, and that is hardly a criticism. The proportions are wide, low, and unmistakably purposeful.

Performance Figures That Need No Embellishment

The 1,001 PS system drives all four wheels through Audi's Quattro AWD setup, aided by active aerodynamics. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 2.6 seconds, and the top speed is rated at 350 km/h.

Five driving modes are on offer, covering E-Hybrid, Balanced, Dynamic, Dynamic+ and Track. In Track mode, traction control can be dialled between Wet, Dry, Race and Off settings.

The 7.3 kWh battery also enables a degree of pure electric running before the combustion engine joins proceedings.

A Cabin That Matches the Car's Ambition

Inside, the Nuvolari presents a minimal, concept-car-inspired dashboard. A central portrait-style infotainment screen anchors the layout, supported by a chunky multifunction steering wheel, large paddle shifters, and a mix of plush materials and brushed metal finishes.

Only 499 Units Will Ever Be Built

Unlike the R8, which Audi positioned as a relatively accessible supercar, the Nuvolari will be produced in a strictly limited run of just 499 units when it reaches customers in 2027.

For those who get one, it will not simply be a fast car. It will be a piece of Audi history.
