MG U9 Pickup Truck Debuts With Diesel Power & ADAS

MG Motor has stepped into the mid-size pickup truck market with the new MG U9. Stretching 5.5 metres in length and powered by a 2.5L diesel engine, the U9 blends rugged utility with premium features. It aims directly at segment leaders like the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger with its muscular design and advanced tech.

The MG U9 provides a new challenger in the midst of the mid-size pickup truck segment. The U9 comes in three trims (Explore, Explore X and Explore Pro) at a price of AUD 52,990 to AUD 60,990 (31 lakh to 35.75 lakh approx).

The buyer will have six colour options, and they will include Midnight Black, Alpine White, Canyon Grey, Riverstone Blue, Summit Blue and Highland Green.

Design and Interiors

The MG U9 is a product of presence, at least on the surface. The very big grille with chrome inlays, vertical LED headlights with T-shaped DRLs, powerful cladding and squarish silhouette give it an undoubtedly rough appearance.

Vertical LED tail-lamps, powered tailgate with step, and powered mid-gate design the rear, as well as providing style and practicality.

Enter the cabin, and it is more upmarket than most of its competitors. U9 has leather seats, suede headliner, 2 screens, which include a 12.3-inch infotainment cluster, a JBL 8 speaker parking framework and at the same time, and a panoramic sunroof.

Rear seats collapse to have more cargo space, and aspects such as ventilated and heated seats, massaging seats, and OTA updates speak to the luxury-oriented strategy.

Capability and Safety, Capability and Safety, Dimensions

The MG U9 is 5,500 mm in length, has 1,997 mm wide, 1,874 mm tall, and is mounted on a 3,300 mm wheelbase. The U9 has 220 mm ground clearance, approach and departure angles of 29° and 25° respectively and a towing capacity of 3,500 kg, making it structured to be as work as it appears. Load capacity stands at 870 kg.

Safety and technically wise, the pickup comes equipped with the ADAS, 360-degree camera, transparent view of the chassis, 7 airbags and a developed telematics.

Engine and Performance

The hood contains a 2.5L 4-cylinder diesel-powered turbo-diesel engine with 215 bhp and 520 Nm of torque. It will be offered with an 8-speed torque converter automatic of ZF origin that includes locking differentials (up to three) plus a BorgWarner transfer case dashboard, the scale of its off-roading attributes.

As the MG U9 boasts an impressive build with its muscular features, a prominently feature-driven interior design and a powerful, efficient diesel engine, it will cause other established competitors such as the Hilux and Ranger to consider it as a strong opponent. This pickup may turn out to be a rebellion to individuals who wish to buy a vehicle that is tough and simultaneously luxurious.
