The Mercedes-Benz CLA is set for its world premiere in production-spec on March 13, the brand has confirmed. The new CLA was introduced in concept form at the Munich Motor Show in September 2023.
In the first half of this year, the CLA concept was showcased at India’s Auto Expo 2025. The new CLA, built on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), will be the inaugural model in a completely new series of entry-level luxury vehicles from Mercedes-Benz.
Exterior Design of Mercedes Benz CLA
Mercedes had previously mentioned that the production version of the CLA would only be ‘lightly altered’ from the concept, and thus, it previews a completely new design philosophy for both the exterior and interior.
Camouflaged test mules of the CLA have suggested new wraparound LED headlamps featuring a three-pointed star-like LED daytime running lamp signature, a full-width light bar above the grille, and a new take on the Mercedes-Benz grille.
Interior of Mercedes Benz CLA
While the production-spec CLA interior remains unseen, the concept showcased a Supercreen arrangement featuring three interconnected screens. The brand indicated that the same would be preserved for the production version, too. It is interesting to note that the CLA will be the first to showcase the new MB.OS operating system. Also included in the new chip-to-cloud architecture is a virtual assistant powered by AI.
Powertrain of Mercedes Benz CLA
The new CLA has been designed primarily as an EV, with entry-level versions of the compact sedan featuring a rear electric motor and a two-speed transmission. 4Matic models with higher specifications will include an extra single-speed electric motor on the front axle. The powertrain of the new CLA, which Mercedes refers to as “the one-litre car of the electric age,” is based on the Vision EQXX concept.
Conclusion
The upcoming global debut of the Mercedes-Benz CLA marks a significant step for the brand, introducing a new era of entry-level luxury vehicles. With its bold design, cutting-edge technology, and an EV-first approach, the CLA is set to make a strong impact in the premium sedan segment. As the first model built on the Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, it paves the way for the brand’s future lineup of electric and petrol-powered vehicles. More details, including specifications and market availability, will be revealed at its world premiere on March 13.
