The Kia Seltos comes with several powertrain options, including one of the popular ones, the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill. Accordingly, we have tested the mid-spec HTK+ model for mileage, and here is how it fared in our tests.
Engine and Gearbox
But before we explain the powertrain options for the Seltos, we really should mention that it covers a whole range of combinations. There is one 113bhp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine that is mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic.
Then there is the 138bhp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit available with a choice of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DCT automatic. And, finally, the other petrol model is the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol mill with output figures of 113bhp and 144Nm torque.
It is available with various combinations of six-speed manual, six-speed iMT clutchless manual, and this CVT auto gearbox which we are testing.
City Mileage
The highway mileage over 78.1 km of driving in the city works out to about 7.59 litres of petrol. This translates to a real-world number of 10.3 kmpl, against the MID's reading of 10.8 kmpl. This performance of 10.3 kmpl can naturally be considered decent for a mid-size petrol SUV weighing 1,300 kg.
Highway Mileage
The Seltos IVT, for its part, travelled 79.8 km on the highway, registering 5.08 litres of fuel consumption. The MID recorded 16.3 kmpl, while the real-world number tallied at a commendable figure of 15.7 kmpl, which is fair enough given a full-tank range of slightly over 500 km.
