Tata's upcoming electric Harrier debuts on Acti.ev platform with EV-specific styling, identical interior layout to ICE version, Level 2 ADAS, dual motors with AWD, and potential 500km range; expected to launch at around Rs 25 lakh.
The production-ready Tata Harrier EV has been revealed ahead of its official market launch in the coming weeks. Built on Tata's dedicated Acti.ev platform, this electric SUV is expected to be priced at approximately Rs 25 lakh for the base variant.
At this price point, it will compete directly with the BYD Atto 3 and upcoming Mahindra XEV 9e.
Here's a comprehensive look at all the key details of the Harrier EV.
Design: EV-Specific Styling Elements
Visually, the Harrier EV distinguishes itself from its ICE counterpart through several EV-specific design elements. The front fascia features a closed-off grille – a common characteristic of electric vehicles – along with a revised bumper featuring sharper lines and connected LED DRLs. However, the headlamp and fog lamp assemblies remain similar to those found on the regular Harrier.
The side profile reveals newly-designed, aero-optimized 5-spoke alloy wheels that enhance efficiency, complemented by an EV badge prominently displayed on the front doors. At the rear, the 'Harrier EV' badging, silver skid plate, and a more pronounced rear bumper further differentiate it from the ICE-powered version.
Additional exterior elements include a shark fin antenna, a roof-mounted rear spoiler, and connected LED taillamps that create a distinctive lighting signature.
Interior: Familiar Layout with EV-Specific Features
The interior layout of the electric Harrier maintains the same architecture as its ICE counterpart, ensuring familiarity for existing Tata customers. However, it adopts a different cabin theme and the digital driver's display features EV-specific graphics to provide relevant information about the electric powertrain.
Most of the features from the ICE-powered Harrier have been carried forward, including:
12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
10.25-inch fully digital driver's display
Dual-zone climate control
Panoramic sunroof
Ventilated front seats
Powered tailgate
The safety suite is comprehensive, offering Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, hill hold assist, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, and multiple airbags.
Powertrain: Multiple Battery Options and AWD Capability
While the specific powertrain details of the electric Harrier remain under wraps, this new Tata EV is expected to come with multiple battery pack options and dual electric motors. The vehicle will feature an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, enhancing its capability in various driving conditions.
The Harrier EV will also offer Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Charge (V2C) functionalities, allowing users to power external devices or even charge other electric vehicles. The electric range is anticipated to exceed 500km on a single charge, positioning it as a long-range electric SUV option in the Indian market.
One notable mechanical difference is that Tata has equipped the Harrier EV with a multi-link rear suspension, whereas its ICE version features a torsion beam rear suspension. This upgrade should translate to improved ride quality and handling characteristics.
