Maruti Suzuki has revealed the safety enhancement of its premium and high-selling MPV, XL6, with the standard presence of six airbags in all the variants.
The XL6 retails through the Nexa dealership chain, and the new price is available at a slight increment of 7,000 to 10,000 rupees, which depends on the variant, having an initial starting price of 11.92 lakh ex-showroom.
The XL6 becomes the latest Maruti model to offer six airbags as a standard after the Ertiga, Baleno, Swift, Dzire, Brezza, Grand Vitara and the Jimny were all upgraded in the same way. The move will be in agreement with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) guideline, stating that all new passenger cars in India must be offered with six airbags by October 2025.
A Curb in a Safety Crisis
Prior to this update, the XL6 was supplied with four airbags safety features: ABS, with EBD, electronic stability control, ESP, seatbelt reminder, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear window defogger, and a 360-degree camera. The provision of two extra airbags will go a long way in increasing its acceptance among family consumers with safety being their primary concern.
This is on the broader side of safety and compliance of roads, as Maruti suzuki stands out as one of the automakers that introduces the safety entails without having to wait until the end of the deadline given by the authorities.
No Mechanical Changes to Powertrain
Although the safety equipment has received a significant boost, the remaining XL6 has been left untouched. It still comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine combined with mild-hybrid technology, having a power output of 102 hp and a maximum torque of 137 Nm.
The transmission options have not changed: 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. The XL6 has also retained its CNG model and this only broadens its base.
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 has gained with this update that offers customers an excellent premium, safe, and sensible option in the Indian market as an MPV.
