It has been quite a week for Indian car enthusiasts, as we watched the launch of two flagship updated SUVs and the launch timeline of a hot hatch. Among other noteworthy updates were an India-made SUV attaining full 5 stars in the Japanese NCAP alongside a popular sub-4m sedan debuting in export markets.

2025 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line Launched
The week started with the release of the Tiguan R-Line, the very first R-Line for Indian shores, by Volkswagen. The Tiguan R-Line by the German car manufacturer is put up for sale as a completely-built unit (CBU) and will be delivered from April 28, 2025.
Launch Timeline Confirmed For The Volkswagen Golf GTI
Alongside new launches, Volkswagen also confirmed the launch timeline for the Golf GTI. The second performance hatch by the car maker will see an extremely limited run on our shores.
On top of that, the Indian Golf GTI will only be available in four exterior shades, unlike the seven shades offered by the international model.
2025 Skoda Kodiaq Launched
Skoda last week brought the Kodiaq's latest generation to our shores. It is available in two variants with a long list of upgrades, including tech-loaded interiors, at a significant premium to the old model.
Honda Elevate Scores 5 Stars In JNCAP
The made-in-India Honda Elevate, called WR-V in Japan, has recently received a full 5-star rating in crash tests by the Japanese NCAP. Passing the stricter rules set by the JNCAP test, we expect Honda Elevate would also score a full 5 stars in BNCAP.
Kia EV3 Wins World Car Of The Year 2025
The Kia EV3 takes home the World Car Of The Year (WCOTY) 2025 award. It is the second consecutive win for the Korean carmaker, with last year's trophy going to the EV9. With the BMW X3 and Hyundai Inster among its 52 competitors, the EV3 beat them all to win the coveted title.
