Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, two Indian automakers, are preparing to compete against the well-liked Hyundai Creta, which has long controlled the compact SUV market in India. Tata Punch and Mahindra XUV700, two domestic automakers' new models, are expected to give the South Korean rival stiff competition.

A petrol and an electric powertrain will be available for the SUV, with the petrol variant employing Tata's most recent 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, capable of 125PS and 225Nm of torque. Both a dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed manual transmission will be offered. On the other hand, the electric model will feature two motors and an all-wheel drive, giving it a 400–500 km range. The Curvv idea is anticipated to be closely reflected in the final model.
SUV Hyundai Creta has been dominating the mid-size SUV sector despite the competition from Maruti Suzuki and Toyota. Next year, Tata Motors and Mahindra also want to introduce their SUVs in this market.
The Currv unveiled at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo will be the foundation for Tata Motors’ future SUV, which will compete with the Hyundai Creta. The Gen 2 (sigma) architecture, which supports many engine options and bigger battery packs, will be used for its construction.
Mahindra & Mahindra is reportedly working on a new SUV to compete with the Hyundai Creta, which is scheduled for sale sometime next year. There are rumours that the manufacturers will release XUV500 of the following generation, Creta’s rival. The SUV will be bigger and more luxurious than its predecessor, with five and seven seats. It will be developed by Mahindra Automative Design Europe (M.A.D.E) and constructed using XUV300 as a base. The upcoming Mahindra SUV is believed to have a 1.5L turbocharged gasoline and diesel engine and an electric powertrain option.
