Honda recently debuted the Elevate for the Indian market. At the event, the company announced introducing five SUVs including the Elevate for the Indian market by the end of this decade.
Honda also mentioned that it would skip the hybrid guise for the Elevate and will introduce an all-electric variant in the next three years. The company used to sell the CR-V and WR-V in the Indian market and we can expect the newly revealed Elevate will be launched in the festive season of 2023. The company has not disclosed any further information on the SUVs that are India bound, they could be completely new models or a mixture of the existing SUVs from the global fleet.
Honda's global lineup has SUVs like the HR-V, ZR-V, and CR-V, the company recently revealed its new electric offering in Germany, based on an all-new e:N Architecture F platform. The B-segment SUV e:Ny1 looks like the Honda HR-V on sale in other markets. It uses a single front-mounted motor powered by a 68.8 kWh battery that makes a good 204 bhp and 310 Nm of peak torque.
The company claims that the e:Ny1 can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 45 minutes and a range of 412 km on a single charge. Inside the cabin, a 15.1-inch vertically positioned touchscreen infotainment system takes centre stage on the dashboard. Other highlights include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and multiple storage spaces among others. Honda claims that high-tensile steel has been used for 47 percent of the SUV's body to increase torsional stiffness.
Honda showcased three electric SUVs at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year, it looks like Honda has a strong offensive planned for both domestic and international markets. The company could bring existing models to the Indian shore, or develop new SUVs exclusively for the Indian market. As a part of the Elevate offensive, Honda has invested Rs. 260 crores to upgrade its dealership network.
