Hyundai i20 Era 2026: A New Base Model with a Powerful Value Proposition

With the release of the 2026 Hyundai i20 Era, the well-liked luxury hatchback range now offers a far more affordable entry-level model. The Era trim, which costs ₹5.99 lakh, ensures that consumers do not feel undervalued because it still has Hyundai's distinctive design language, current cabin comforts, and necessary safety equipment. Through this calculated repositioning, Hyundai hopes to reach a larger market seeking value, style, and functionality in a reasonably priced hatchback.

  • With competitive pricing, Hyundai relaunches the i20 Era as the new base trim.

  • Despite being less expensive, entry-level models have robust safety measures and contemporary technology.

With the official release of the 2026 i20 Era, Hyundai Motor India has made a substantial change to the pricing plan for its popular premium hatchback. Priced at ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this entry-level trim maintains the key features and design components that have made the i20 brand more accessible to a wider range of consumers.

A Chic Hatchback That Is Uncompromising

The Era variant doesn't feel like a stripped-down version, despite being the entry-level model in the i20 line. With elements like body-coloured bumpers, door handles, and ORVMs, as well as sleek blacked-out pillars and 14-inch wheel covers that bolster its assured posture, the model retains the aggressive and modern design language that sets the i20 apart.

Its interior still features a well-designed cockpit with an adjustable steering column and a completely digital instrument panel. Although it isn't standard, buyers can choose to pay more for a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto from the dealer.

Practicality and Safety Remain Paramount

The reduced cost hasn't come at the expense of safety. Six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors, plus tools like Hill Assist Control and seatbelt reminders for all passengers are standard on the i20 Era. These attributes highlight Hyundai's focus on safety, even for the base model.

With features like manual air conditioning, front power windows, USB Type-C charging, and tilt-and-telescopic steering adjustment that improve everyday driving comfort, practical everyday use is also adequately supported.

Expanded Line-Up Improvements and Price Changes

In addition to the new Era model, Hyundai has updated the prices of the Magna Executive and Magna trims, which are now ₹6.74 lakh and ₹6.99 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. Higher trim levels of both models still come with upgraded amenities, including LED DRLs, electrically adjustable ORVMs, keyless entry, automatic headlights, and tyre pressure monitoring.

Hyundai hopes that these changes will make the i20 range more affordable and competitive, addressing growing car costs while preserving the hatchback's reputation for value, safety, and style.
