Arriving in India on March 17, 2026, the Audi SQ8 is a flagship SUV with a performance focus.
Between the basic Q8 and RS Q8, it boasts a powerful V8 engine, a sporty design, and high-end equipment.
Audi India has stated that the new SQ8 will officially launch on March 17, 2026, bringing a new, performance-focused alternative to its lineup of premium SUVs. The SQ8, which sits between the standard Q8 and the potent RS Q8, is designed to appeal to those who desire a fast yet elegant driving experience without going up to the extreme RS model.
Exciting Performance Meets Usability in Daily Life
The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 gasoline engine at the centre of the SQ8 was modified from the RS Q8. Together with Audi's well-known quattro all-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed automatic transmission, the SQ8's output is 507 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 4.1 seconds thanks to this combination, which puts it within striking distance of real sports cars without sacrificing daily driveability.
Although the SQ8's 3.0-litre turbocharged engine is more powerful than the ordinary Q8, its output is purposefully reduced in comparison to the RS Q8's peak numbers, providing a balance between comfort and performance.
A Design That Draws Attention
With a number of distinctive exterior features, the SQ8 stands out visually. With a satin-silver ring around the massive grille and silver accents on the bumper, air inlets, mirror housings, and side trims, it has a sportier and more upscale appearance.
LED matrix headlights give it a high-tech appearance, and the SUV's wheels are 21 inches by default in foreign markets; however, 22 inches are an option. More sophisticated carbon-ceramic brakes are also available in some areas.
The interior of the cabin combines performance and luxury characteristics with leather and Alcantara upholstery, metal pedals, aluminium door sill inlays, and "S"-specific badging on the steering wheel and seats. The 12.3-inch digital driver display, which has SQ-specific visuals, is paired with Audi's well-known twin-screen MMI infotainment system.
Market Position and Pricing
Although Audi India has not made its pricing public, the SQ8 is expected to retail for approximately ₹1.9 crore (ex-showroom), placing it in the middle of the company's lineup between the current Q8 and RS Q8. This pricing reflects its distinct position as a sporty, well-equipped substitute for those looking for a package that combines luxury and performance.
With the SQ8 expected to combine exciting performance, unique style, and premium comfort catered for the Indian market, luxury SUV customers are growing more and more excited as the launch date draws near.
