This is about the 5 possible new Toyota 4x4 SUVs that reality is expected to have for the Indian market sometime soon. However, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has its heart set on launching as many as four new SUVs in India over a span of two or three years.
To add to the anticipation is the all-electric SUV, which is based on a platform that is likely to be the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Slated for debut in the latter half of next year, the electric SUV would not just see domestic shores but would be exported to several international regions from Gujarat.
We're putting out here the supposed offerings:
1. Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV
The newest midsize electric SUV by Toyota will have its keep for presentation during the second half of 2025 by design, taking some ideas from the Urban SUV concept shown last year, and expected to exhibit the capability of a range of over 500 km.
Built on a descendant of the 27PL platform shared with the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, it will probably be available in both configurations-single and dual-motor, the latter offering all-wheel drive. This model is expected to be competing against the Creta Electric from Hyundai, XEV 9e from Mahindra, Curvv EV from Tata, etc.
2. Completely New Toyota Fortuner
Set already for several international markets is the mild-hybrid Toyota Fortuner which features a 48-volt MHEV system, increasing performance on acceleration and low-speed driving, as well as efficiency and reduced emissions. This comes along with a 2.8L four-cylinder GD series diesel engine.
Furthermore, it seems that the next-gen Fortuner that may come with an all-new turbo petrol engine is also in the works by Toyota. The exact date of its introduction remains unconfirmed, but could, in fact, be late 2025 for its mild-hybrid variant in India.
3&4. 7-Seater Toyota Hyryder & Next-Gen Hyryder
The next-generation Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is expected to adopt refreshed styling as well as a more feature-loaded version while retaining both the 1.5L mild-hybrid and 1.5L strong-hybrid petrol engines.
While the now standard five-seater will continue to offer all-wheel drive, whether that configuration will also be offered in the much-awaited three-row version that is likely intended for 2026 remains to be seen. However, this one will most likely come along.
5. Toyota Land Cruiser FJ
This is a relatively smaller version of the Toyota Fortuner which is being manufactured by Toyota at its Thailand plant about next month. This also shares a lot of components with the Hilux Champ, which is expected to provide a version of the rugged yet cost-effective option to the larger Fortuner. It can also use a model to show it to the Indian market in the near future.
Conclusion
Most recently, the company has introduced the Urban Cruiser GR-S and Fortuner Legender 4x4 MT in India. All of these models may be brought to the country, including the next-gen Hyryder and a seven-seater based on it too, as its sibling.
