Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is strengthening its position in the market through heavy investments, fresh product lineup, and sustainable mobility solutions. Speaking about the SUV offerings in the near future, the Japanese maker has planned for five new SUVs in several price tags with several engine options.
View the details closely and the expected launch period of the new Toyota SUVs.
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV
The Urban Cruiser EV was introduced in its concept format at the Auto Expo 2025. In short, it is the renamed version of the Maruti e Vitara with a little design differentiation. Being introduced in the coming weeks, the Toyota electric SUV may be launched in the second half of 2025.
The Urban Cruiser EV will share similar mechanical components with the e-Vitara and will have two battery pack options-49kWh and 61kWh, which will be paired to a unique front-axle-fixed 143bhp and 173bhp motor, respectively, enabling it to run above 500km in higher specifications.
Toyota Hyryder 7-Seater
It is expected that the Japanese carmaker will introduce the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV in a three-row body option in the latter half of the year. Most design elements, interiors, and features will essentially remain similar to that of the five-seat version.
The powertrains offered on this 7-seater SUV will include the same engine options consisting of a 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid and a 1.5L strong-hybrid powertrain from Toyota.
Toyota Fortuner MHEV
The Toyota Fortuner MHEV (mild hybrid electric vehicle) is already available in the South African market. The same model is expected to hit Indian roads now, but its launch timeline is yet to be worked out.
It comes with a 2.8L diesel engine coupled to a 48V mild hybrid system producing a maximum power and torque output of 201bhp and 500Nm, respectively. Compared to the regular diesel-powered Fortuner, the MHEV version is claimed to deliver 5 percent more fuel efficiency.
New-Gen Toyota Hyryder
The second-generation Toyota Hyryder is in the pipeline too. The midsize SUV is expected to undergo intensive changes in design and equipment inside and outside while retaining the same powertrain.
The design changes and feature upgrades will be similar to those of the new-gen Grand Vitara, which is also due for this year. The new-gen Hyryder will come with the same 1.5L mild hybrid and 1.5L strong hybrid powertrain options.
Toyota Mini Fortuner
The Japanese automaker has also lined up a flagship outing against the Mahindra Scorpio for 2027. This model will receive an underbody manufactured on the new monocoque chassis, and it will have petrol and strong hybrid powertrain options (the latter borrowed from the Innova Hycross).
This upcoming Toyota SUV is currently being called "Mini Fortuner." It will also be styled ruggedly and have good high ground clearance with a 4X4 drivetrain system.
