FASTag is a useful tool launched by the government to promote cashless toll payments. Introduced as a new-age modern solution for making toll, parking and fuel payments (sometimes), FASTag became mandatory for every vehicle in India.
Moreover, the law also states that every vehicle should have a separate FASTag and to ensure this, the NHAI started the ‘One Vehicle, One Tag’ program. There are several NETC-approved FASTag providers in the country and amongst all the available ones, Bajaj Finserv is one of the leading tag providers.
Launched by Bajaj Finserv is the Bajaj Pay FASTag, one of the highly adopted tags across the country. This electronic tag works on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to make automatic payments at the toll plazas and parking points. The tag is clearly affixed to the windshield of the vehicle to ensure smooth and quick scanning at the respective points to automatically make the payments through the linked prepaid account.
The working of the Bajaj Pay FASTag is simple. The sequential working mechanism behind this tag is as follows:
Buy a Bajaj Pay FASTag: The vehicle owner has to either buy FASTag online or offline, depending on convenience and preference.
Activation and recharge: The tag is then activated to ensure it is working, followed by Bajaj Finserv FASTag recharge. Users can recharge the tag through online platforms like Park+ or can approach a POS.
FASTag placement and scanning: Once the recharge is completed, the tag is then pasted clearly on the vehicle’s windscreen for easy scanning. As soon as the vehicle reaches a toll point or parking station, the advanced sensors read the unique identification number of the tag.
Payment deduction: Upon successful validation across the database, the applicable charges are then deducted from the Bajaj Pay wallet.
Access to the vehicle: Once the payment is made, the boom barrier arm lifts up, allowing passage to the vehicle. In case of payment failure or a blacklisted Bajaj Finserv FASTag, the vehicle’s passage is blocked unless the applicable toll charges are paid via cash, UPI or any other supported means.
Deduction notification: The users are then notified about the payment in real-time through SMS. This helps tag owners to stay updated about all the deductions, ensuring transparency and convenience.
The key specifications of the Bajaj Pay FASTag are as follows:
Validity: Bajaj Finserv FASTag has a validity of up to 5 years. The tag remains operational for this specified period after which it needs to be replaced. During the course, the tag needs to be recharged when required for smooth payments.
Linked to Bajaj wallet: The Bajaj Pay FASTag needs to be linked to the Bajaj wallet to make easy payments. Individuals can link with their existing wallets (if any).
Auto load benefit: Bajaj Finserv FASTag recharge comes with an ‘Auto load’ feature, which allows tag holders to maintain an adequate balance to avoid adverse scenarios.
Parking and toll payments: Bajaj FASTag can be used for parking payments as well, in addition to making toll charges.
Easy handling: This FASTag is easy to handle right from purchase to recharge. The users can manage the tag online through any reliable platform.
