A FASTag is a modern solution introduced to ease toll payment and collections across India. Every vehicle is mandated by law to have a tag linked to it. To make the FASTag work, it needs to be recharged at regular intervals so that toll payments are made smoothly. With the change in technology, the FASTag recharge online has gained immense popularity. The online platforms have made recharging tags easier, contributing to smooth traffic flow on roads and hassle-free driving. The Annual FASTag Pass has further eased the complete process of recharge by offering users a simple option to travel effortlessly for a year or up to 200 trips (whichever comes earlier) with a one-time recharge of ₹3,075.
You can recharge your FASTag online on Park+ by entering your vehicle number, selecting the recharge amount, and completing the payment securely within minutes.
Step 1: Visit the ‘FASTag Recharge’ section on Park+.
Step 2: Enter the ‘Vehicle Number’ in the provided space.
Step 3: Click on ‘Recharge Now’ Button.
Step 4: Select the amount of recharge you want to do or manually enter the amount.
Step 5: Make a payment to complete the FASTag recharge.
Recharging your FASTag is important to avoid interruptions at the toll plazas and paying double toll charges. The tag can be topped up in many ways and they are:
You can quickly add balance to your FASTag by choosing the UPI payment mode on the checkout page. Select a suitable UPI method from the available ones like - Google Pay, PhonePe, etc, and pay the recharge amount.
The FASTag recharge can also be made using the debit or credit card. The steps to include are:
Upon making the payment, choose the option to pay via debit or credit card.
Enter the card number carefully.
Verify it by entering the OTP and complete recharge.
To avoid paying double charges at the toll plazas, the simplest way is to set up an auto-debit. Under this, the FASTag wallet balance falls below the limit set up by you, the funds will get added to the linked FASTag automatically.
The steps to set up an auto-debit are:
Go to your issuing bank’s website and complete the log in steps.
Find the option for auto-recharge/auto-debit.
Set up the minimum amount to be maintained.
In case the balance falls below it, the required amount will get added to the linked tag automatically.
This is the suitable recharge method for the buyers of new cars, if the vehicle registration is pending. The steps to recharge FASTag are:
Perform log in to your FASTag issuing bank.
Go to the ‘FASTag Recharge’ section and type in the vehicle’s ‘Chassis Number’.
Complete FASTag recharge.
The updated balance will be reflected in the linked FASTag account.
While using a FASTag, users come across some issues - which are quite common and simple to fix. The common issues relating to FASTag and their possible solutions are:
While performing the FASTag recharge steps, if the amount gets deducted but the status reflects - ‘FASTag Recharge Failed’ and the recharge amount is not reflected in the balance - don’t panic!
This might happen due to server delays - you can wait for some hours and try checking it again.
If the amount is deducted yet not reflected, the same amount will be refunded back in the source account.
A FASTag is flagged as blacklisted in several cases - insufficient funds, pending KYC, fraudulent activity, etc. The most common reason when a FASTag is marked as blacklisted is not having sufficient funds in the FASTag.
To re-activate the blacklisted FASTag (if because of inadequate funds) try adding funds to it by UPI, debit/credit card, etc. and for sometime to get the balance updated. Even if the issue remains the same, reach out to the customer care team of the FASTag issuer.
Tip: To avoid this, enable auto-recharge.
At times, double charges get deducted at the toll booths - the most possible causes include, wrong placement of the FASTag, dirty/damaged FASTag, technical glitches, etc. In case you face double deduction of till charges, you can escalate the issue by writing an e-mail to the customer team of the FASTag provider or can file a complaint on NHAI portal. You can call on the toll-free number of NHAI - 1033 for timely redressal of the query.
Things to take care of before raising a complaint
Before raising the complaint, cross-check these details:
Verify the transaction details twice - the date, time and amount of deduction.
Gather the supported evidence - the amount deduction slip or the screenshot of the transaction.
