Axis Bank FASTag Recharge – Process, Benefits, Documents and More

FASTag, implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways along with the NHAI, aims to make toll payment faster and cashless. The "One Vehicle, One FASTag" rule mandates that every vehicle must have a valid FASTag linked directly to its registration details. The tag is connected to digital payment platforms such as UPI, debit cards, credit cards and wallets, which makes FASTag easy to recharge and manage online while improving transparency in toll payments. Among the authorised NETC issuers, Axis Bank FASTag is one of the widely used options that allow users to pay toll charges digitally and make travel smooth across nationwide acceptance.

What is Axis Bank FASTag?

Axis Bank issues a prepaid RFID-enabled tag, known as Axis Bank FASTag, which is attached to the vehicle's windshield. When the vehicle passes through the toll plaza, the toll amount is automatically deducted from the linked FASTag wallet or account. Axis FASTag is approved under the NETC program and works at all national highway toll plazas. Once activated, users can recharge their FASTag online, track transactions, and manage their account easily.

How does Axis FASTag work?

The Axis FASTag works using simple and advanced Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. After you complete the buy FASTag online process and do the first Axis Bank FASTag recharge, the system starts working automatically in the following way:

  • Buying and activation: Buy FASTag online through the bank or a trusted online platform and complete the activation using the instructions provided during registration.

  • Fix the tag on the windshield: The FASTag should be placed on the inside of the front windshield, usually at the top centre, so that the scanner can read it easily at toll plazas.

  • Link FASTag with an account: The tag must be connected to a prepaid wallet or bank account by submitting vehicle details on the issuer portal to enable smooth transactions.

  • Automatic toll deduction: When the vehicle enters the FASTag lane, the RFID reader scans the tag and the toll amount is deducted instantly from the linked account.

  • Instant alerts and updates: After every transaction, users receive SMS or app notifications showing toll deduction details and remaining balance.
