Our Park+ Highlight of the Day includes details on the upcoming Skoda Enyaq iV L&K electric SUV that has recently been unveiled!
The Skoda electric SUV is headed for India. A new, longer-range Laurin & Klement or L&K variation, with a stated range of 570 km, has been added to the Enyaq iV. It now has a new 210 kW electric motor, which replaces the 150 kW motor and is available in both all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive versions.
Skoda Enyaq Laurin and Klement Range and Power
The Enyaq L&K 85, a rear-wheel-drive vehicle that once went under the name Enyaq iV 80, now has 282 horsepower, an increase of 204 horsepower. The range has also increased from 510 km to 570 km. The L&K 85x version of the Enyaq iV 80x all-wheel drive, which formerly produced 265 horsepower, now produces 282 horsepower. The all-wheel drive version's range has increased from the 460 km it provided on the 80x to 550km on the WLTP cycle. Performance-wise, the Enyaq L&K 85 sprints from 0-100kph in 6.7 seconds, beating the iV 80's speed by a whole 2 seconds. The 85x, in contrast, completes the 0-100kph sprint in 6.6 seconds as opposed to the 80x's 6.9 seconds. The highest speed has been lowered to 180 kph for both the all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive models, matching the vRS model. Both models still use the same 82kWh battery, which can be charged using a DC fast charger from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
Company Statement
Johannes Neft, Skoda Auto Board Member for Technical Development, said, "In the new Enyaq L&K, we are introducing several technical upgrades that will subsequently be used in the other models of this series, as well. The new, more powerful drivetrain generation will deliver a higher system output of 210 kW. At the same time, we have been able to extend the maximum range to 570 km on the WLTP cycle and keep the 10 to 80 per cent charging time under 30 minutes. Based on customer feedback, we added battery preheating management, which also uses navigation data. This function optimizes the charging performance even in cold weather. Moreover, our new User Interface takes usability to a completely new level, making the operation of the vehicle even more intuitive."
Pre-Heating Feature of the Battery
Additionally, Skoda has released software that adds a new pre-heating feature for the battery on L&K variations. This feature will ultimately be made accessible on all Enyaq variants starting in 2024. There are two options available for the pre-heating function, which aids in bringing the battery up to the ideal temperature before charging starts. The first option is a manual one that warms up the battery when the driver taps a button on the main infotainment screen. According to the name, the car operates autonomously in automated mode while en route to a fast-charging station using information from the navigation system.
Exterior
The Enyaq receives platinum gray accents on the bumpers, rear diffuser, and wing mirrors to distinguish the L&K variation from other models in the lineup. In addition, chrome is used to complete the roof rails, window surrounds, and grille frame. There are insignia on the front fenders as well, as with every L&K model. Additionally, the Enyaq L&K comes standard with 20-inch alloy wheels and LED matrix headlights, with 21-inch wheels available as an option.
Interior
Two design options are available for the new Skoda Enyaq L&K's cabin. The L&K Black is an option, while the Design Selection L&K Shell with beige leather upholstery is the norm. Only in this variation do the front seats include massage and ventilation. The infotainment system has controls for these functions. It has heated steering, aluminum pedals, and ambient lighting.
By March 2024, the Enyaq will be introduced in India, albeit it is unknown which model would arrive here. It will be imported as a CBU because Skoda intends to utilize the Enyaq to gauge the market before deciding on its country's future EV lineup.
