Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is ready to reveal its next all-electric vehicle as a big stride into the luxury automaker's journey to all-electric luxury. It was disclosed by CEO Chris Brownridge when he told Autocar UK that the new vehicle would be presented this year, with a market launch expected sometime in 2025.
No details of the car have been revealed, but an SUV smaller than the Cullinan may be something one can imagine. The following discusses the form of an upcoming EV from Rolls-Royce as well as efforts to electrify the brand.
The Biggest Investment in About Two Decades
The sum of a little more than £300 million will be spent by Rolls-Royce on the expansion of its Goodwood manufacturing facility. That would be the largest at its headquarters in the UK since founding the facility there in 2003.
These funds will be used not only to produce the coming EV but also to gear up for its highly lucrative bespoke personalization business. The improved facility will support increased demands for bespoke cars such as the good ol' Phantoms and Cullinans, Ghosts and Spectres, as well as custom-made coachbuilt models such as the Sweptail, Boat Tail, and Droptail.
Rolls-Royce celebrated the heavily customized year by increasing content value in bespoke customization by 10% over last year, with the highest customizations for its models, among which the Phantom Extended Wheelbase was the leader, followed closely by Spectre EV, and the majority of the customizations from buyers in the Middle East.
EV-Only Future: No Hybrids
Skipping hybrid powertrains, was Rolls-Royce's prerogative toward the electric conversion of their drive technology.
According to Chris Brownridge, "We will not provide anything in between our electric Spectre and V12 aircraft," as part of its overall journey from internal combustion engines to all-electric powertrains.
Rolls-Royce does have a hybrid option for some models, but this is how it differs from other competitors like Bentley and Aston Martin. Indeed, the brand has already confirmed it will retire its entire combustion powertrain by 2030, adhering to its original timeline, while other premium carmakers may be forced to adjust their plans in response to fluctuations in EV demand.
Leading Rolls-Royce's Charge in Electric: Spectre EV
Currently, Spectre is the only electric vehicle (EV) that belongs to Rolls-Royce. This jaw-dropping grand tourer is the first introduction of this great automaker to electrification. It combines very innovative technology and the evident luxury and craftsmanship that this brand always assures.
By the next electric car introduction in 2025, Rolls-Royce, certainly, underscores its advantageous place as a master of luxury electric mobility.
Conclusion
With the announcement of Rolls Royce's forthcoming EV, which will debut in 2025, the brand clearly signaled its intention to move exclusively into the realm of fully electric cars. Not only is there a huge investment into the manufacturing aspect, but Rolls Royce has decided to ignore numbers and move on to the future without being held back by hybrids, challenging some serious stuff in the arena of what could be called 'the luxury of the era.' The growing expansion of bespoke design and innovation in automotive production among such brands is expected to bring the world's latest piece to the very near future.
