The BMW Enthusiasts have finally to look forward to something as BMW is set to introduce the latest generation of its 5 Series sedan in India on July 24, 2024. The long-wheelbase (LWB) variant of this new vehicle will be the only one offered, marking a first for the luxury sedan in the Indian market. Notably, the right-hand-drive variant of this LWB vehicle will debut in India first. Just like the E-Class LWB, India will be the second market after China to get the 5 Series LWB. Let’s dive into the details to get more information:
Design and Dimensions
The new BMW 5 Series has undergone significant changes in design, both inside and out. The dimensions of the most recent generation of the BMW 5 Series LWB are 5,175 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,520 mm in height, and 3,105 mm in wheelbase. This results in a total length of 145mm more than the standard 5 Series sedan, of which 110mm is attributed to the wheelbase.
Although these measurements are for the type marketed in China, we anticipate some modifications unique to that nation, such as an RHD configuration and marginally elevated ground clearance.
The car's front end has a bigger kidney grille with 14 vertical slats and new adaptive LED headlights. In comparison to the previous generation, the side profile features more streamlined lines and a more flowing roofline. There are brand-new LED taillights on the back end.
The new 5 Series LWB shares the same exterior design as the standard vehicle, but it is longer, much like the 3 Series Grand Limousine that is offered in India. The back door of the 5 Series LWB lacks a rear quarter glass, making it appear identical to the conventional car, in contrast to the E-Class LWB, which has a separate quarter glass and a distinctive door design.
Interior and Features
The interior has a contemporary and luxurious vibe, matching the design of recent BMW vehicles. With a 14.9-inch center touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, the dashboard's free-standing display is noteworthy. The bigger 7 Series' technology is also incorporated into the new 5 Series, such as the Interaction Bar, an optional feature that offers touch-based controls for several operations. The screen provides an immersive experience on the road with its 8K resolution, 5G compatibility, and Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system. In our opinion, the majority of these should also affect the India-spec vehicle.
Additional comfort facilities, like dual-tone styling, quilted upholstery, and 4-zone climate control, are included in the 5 Series LWB offered in China.
Powertrain Options
While the new 5 Series's engine options have not been formally revealed by BMW in India, it is anticipated that it will be available with a 2.0-liter gasoline engine (presumably the 530Li) and a 2.0-liter diesel engine (possibly the 520Ld). To improve performance and economy, a 48-volt mild hybrid system is anticipated for both engines.
Rivalry
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB and the Audi A6 are two luxury sedans that the new BMW 5 Series will compete with when it is introduced in the Indian market.
In Summary, An important turning point for BMW was the arrival of the long-wheelbase BMW 5 Series in India, which offers the country's consumers more sophisticated features and more luxury. Indian customers are expected to enjoy a superior driving experience because of the new model's increased proportions, redesigned interior, and cutting-edge technology.
