MG Windsor EV raises the price by 21,000 in July 2025

MG Windsor EV, one of the most popular electric vehicles in India, has also got a price hike of 21,000 Indian rupees in its highest variant of Essence Pro. With the price increase, the car is still an attractive purchase due to premium features, excellent range and the available Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, which saves a lot of money.

The best-selling electric vehicle by MG Motor India, that is Windsor EV, has had its price revised. The latest ex-showroom price of the company has increased the top-spec model Essence Pro by 21,000, which goes to 18.31 lakh. It is rising only a few months after the Pro variants were launched in May of 2025, with the 8,000 tickets booked within a day due to massive demand.

Price History, Booking Rush

The lowest cost the Essence Pro started at was an introductory price of 17.49 lakh and once the first 8,000 units were filled, the pricing was advanced to ₹18.10 lakh. The car is now going to cost 18.31 lakh (ex-showroom) after the most recent hike.

Although MG has not stated an official reason, it can be argued that it was caused by the high costs of production and the price of inputs that prompted the increase.

Batteries-as-a-Service (BaaS)

When customers choose to avail MG innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) business model, the upfront cost will be much cheaper. The Windsor EV Essence Pro on BaaS is available at the cost of 13.31 lakh, with a fixed charge of 4.5/km on the battery.

The plan also contains 60% guaranteed buyback (on ex-showroom price) after 3 yrs or 45,000 km, and that is an assurance to new EV adopters.

Variants and Feature Differentiation

The Windsor Exclusive Pro, positioned at ₹17.25 lakh (with BaaS it offers a ₹12.25 lakh price mark), is also available but loses out on features such as Level 2 ADAS, vehicle-to-load (V2L), vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging, or the powered tailgate belong exclusively to the highest-end Essence Pro variant. The superior version comes along with more colour range.

Battery, Range and Charging Times

The Windsor EV Pro variants have a bigger 52.9 kWh battery pack which will have a range of 449 km as compared to 332 km in the 38-kWh versions.

The power of the motor (136 PS, 200 Nm) is constant within the line-up, but the fast charging can be quicker in the Pro (60 kW against 45 kW) and will reach an 80 percent charge in approximately 50 min. Full charge takes about 9.5 hrs when using a 7.4 kW home AC charger.

No Hardware Updating

It is worth mentioning that, except the change in price there are no updates in hardware or feature set. The Windsor EV Essence Pro has remained competitive in the electric vehicle market in India due to its features-packed value proposition, a high range, and the flexibility of prices through BaaS.
