The app, called Traffic Prahari, is flooding the Indian capital, which was transformed by the Delhi Police with a new way in which the citizenry communicates with road safety.
The app is meant to crowdsource vigilance and gives the citizens of Delhi an opportunity to report traffic crimes on the go and, in exchange, offers rewards of up to 50,000 Rs. every month to the people.
Since Delhi has always led the charts with regard to deaths that are traffic-related, this initiative is hoped to create community-driven enforcement.
What Is the Traffic Prahari App?
Originally introduced in 2015 and revamped in 2024, the app enables users to report violations like:
Red-light jumping
Riding without a helmet
Wrong-side driving
Illegal parking
Rash driving
Unsafe overtaking and more
Through the app, the users can make a photo or video of the offense, having the support of geotagging and authenticity. Notably, the app anonymizes the reporter, making one less scared of facing any action.
Why Antigone Matters
The traffic breakdown in Delhi is well-known and even though the authorities have thousands of police on duty, enforcement gaps still exist. Citizen involvement fills this notion and makes vigilant people active partners of the government.
The app will create awareness, discipline, and safety, and also support people to get an income source, particularly the unemployed youth.
What to report and how to register:
Go to the Google Play Store or App Store and download the Traffic Prahari app.

Make sure you can easily see the number plate and the place it is in.

When validated, a user is notified and their contribution is taken into consideration in terms of monthly rewards.

The Traffic Prahari app has more than 99,000 registered users, and nearly six lakh wrongdoings have been reported since it was launched—making it a game changer in making the roads of Delhi safer to drive on and rewarding civic duty.
