The Indian launch of Maruti Suzuki's e Vitara is scheduled for February 2026.
Comes with two battery options, promised great range and high safety standards.
Maruti Suzuki has finally made its long-awaited foray into the battery-electric vehicle market with the announcement that its first all-electric SUV, the e Vitara, will debut in India in February 2026.
After multiple delays and previews through late 2025, the brand is now gearing up to disclose official pricing and begin test drives soon, marking a noteworthy turn for the automaker as it embraces electrification.
The e-Vitara is anticipated to make a big impact in the market for small electric SUVs, which already has competition from other major brands. It will be offered through Maruti's upscale Nexa dealership network. Pricing is anticipated to be published upon launch and might play a key role in its success.
Batteries and Performance that Matter
The e-Vitara's twin battery options are one of its most talked-about features. Buyers can pick between a 49 kWh unit and a bigger 61 kWh pack, allowing flexibility for varying range needs and budgets.
According to certification numbers, the business claims that the larger battery may provide a driving range of up to 543 kilometers on a single charge.
The SUV will be offered in three variations, Delta, Zeta and Alpha, with the smaller capacity battery limited to the entry-level version, while the mid and top variants get the larger pack.
Technology and Safety on Board
Safety has been a significant focus for the e-Vitara. The model recently passed crash testing under the Bharat NCAP program and got a five-star safety certification, reassuring potential purchasers about its structural integrity and occupant protection. The SUV will also be one of the few Maruti vehicles featuring Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Inside, the e-Vitara is likely to offer a modern cabin with features such as ventilated seats, digital displays, and networking tech that underscores the brand’s shift upmarket within the EV category.
A Contested Battlefield
Maruti Suzuki’s EV drive with the e-Vitara comes at a time when the Indian market is quickly adopting electric cars. Rivals from companies like Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata, and MG will fight with the e-Vitara for consumers' attention in the class of small electric SUVs.
With deliveries and test drives anticipated to pick up soon, this February launch is building up to be one of the most significant electric vehicle launches in the Indian automotive calendar.
