Hyundai i20 N Line Loses N6 DCT Variant in India, What's Changed and What Remains

Hyundai Motor India has quietly trimmed the i20 N Line's variant lineup, pulling the plug on the N6 DCT option and stripping dual-tone colour choices from the N6 trim altogether. The automatic gearbox is now reserved exclusively for the range-topping N8, while prices for the sporty hatchback remain unchanged, sitting between Rs. 9.22 lakh and Rs. 11.67 lakh, ex-showroom.

  • The N6 DCT variant has been discontinued, making the automatic gearbox available only on the N8 trim.

  • The N6 variant has also lost its dual-tone exterior colour options as part of the same revision.

Hyundai Motor India has revised the i20 N Line lineup by discontinuing a handful of options that were previously on offer. The most significant change is the removal of the N6 DCT variant, which paired the mid-spec trim with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Going forward, buyers who want the convenience of an automatic will need to step up to the top-specification N8 trim. On top of this, the N6 variant has also been stripped of its dual-tone paint options, meaning it will now only be available in single-tone exterior colours.

The N8 trim is unaffected by these changes. It continues to be offered with both a six-speed manual transmission and the seven-speed DCT, and dual-tone paint schemes remain available for those who want a more visually distinct look.

A Brief History of the i20 N Line in India

The i20 N Line was first introduced in India back in September 2021. At launch, the hatchback was offered with an Intelligent Manual Transmission and a dual-clutch automatic option spread across two variants.

The car received a notable update in October 2023, when Hyundai replaced the iMT with a conventional six-speed manual gearbox as part of a facelift. That update also brought cosmetic and feature revisions to bring the car in line with buyer expectations at the time.

Throughout its run, the i20 N Line has carried a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and that has not changed with this revision.

What Makes the N Line Stand Apart from the Standard i20

Despite the trimming of variants, the i20 N Line continues to carry its sporty visual identity. It stands out from the regular i20 with a roof spoiler, red-painted brake callipers, dual exhaust tips and an all-black cabin theme.

Multiple N Line badges across the exterior and interior reinforce the performance-oriented positioning that the sub-brand is known for.

Pricing and Who It Competes With

Pricing for the i20 N Line has not been revised alongside the lineup changes. The range continues to start at Rs. 9.22 lakh and tops out at Rs. 11.67 lakh, ex-showroom.

In terms of competition, the car now primarily goes up against the turbo petrol variants of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The Tata Altroz Racer, which was a direct rival in this space, was discontinued in May 2025, making the segment a slightly less crowded arena than it once was.
