Hyundai Creta Tops Compact Suv Sales In November 2024 Outshines Rivals

Hyundai Creta Tops Compact SUV Sales in November 2024, Outshines Rivals

Hyundai Creta Retains its Dominance

The compact SUV segment continues to be a fierce battleground, and November 2024 was no exception. Leading the pack once again was the Hyundai Creta, solidifying its position with over 15,400 units sold. Despite an 11.68% month-on-month (MoM) decline, the Creta claimed a substantial 33.29% market share. It also achieved a positive year-on-year (YoY) market share growth of 6.2%, showcasing its enduring popularity. The numbers include the performance-oriented Creta N-Line, which has further bolstered its appeal.

Maruti Grand Vitara: A Solid Second

The Maruti Grand Vitara followed as the second-best-selling compact SUV, with over 10,100 units sold. However, the model experienced a sharp 27.94% MoM decline in sales, securing a market share of 21.86%. Despite the dip, the Grand Vitara remains a favorite in its category, being one of only two models to cross the five-digit sales mark.

Kia Seltos and Tata Curvv: Fighting for the Spotlight

The Kia Seltos secured the third position, selling more than 5,300 units. It recorded a 15.72% MoM decline but maintained a notable YoY market share of 26.79%. Meanwhile, the Tata Curvv, with slightly over 5,100 units sold, demonstrated strong market penetration, achieving an 11% share. Its MoM decline was minimal at just 4.67%, highlighting steady demand for Tata's SUV-coupe offering.

Toyota Hyryder and Honda Elevate: Steady Yet Struggling

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder sold over 4,800 units, experiencing a 10.86% MoM decline but a 3.57% YoY market share growth. The Honda Elevate, on the other hand, witnessed a significant 22.38% drop in MoM sales, standing at sixth place with over 1,600 units sold.

Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq: Facing Declines

The Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun both faced over 26% declines in MoM sales, with sales figures hovering around 1,500 units each. Despite the dip, these models maintain their niche in the segment.

MG Astor and Citroen Models: Mixed Results

The MG Astor sold nearly 550 units, marking a steep 28.55% MoM decline. Meanwhile, Citroen Aircross stood out with a 95% MoM growth, albeit with modest sales of 201 units. The Citroen Basalt, however, faced the steepest decline on the list, dropping by 78.73% to sell just 47 units.

Segment Overview

With total sales exceeding 46,000 units, the compact SUV market remains a significant contributor to the automotive industry despite a 17.46% MoM decline. The Hyundai Creta continues to lead, while newer entrants like the Tata Curvv are carving a place for themselves.
