Next Gen Kia Seltos Begins Testing In India With Hybrid Powertrain

Next-Gen Kia Seltos Begins Testing in India with Hybrid Powertrain

Kia Seltos: A New Era Begins

Kia Motors is gearing up to redefine the mid-size SUV segment with the next-generation Seltos. Barely a month after the updated model was first spotted, the 2025 Kia Seltos has commenced testing on Indian roads, signaling that its arrival in the market is not far off. Expected to feature significant design and performance upgrades, the new-gen Seltos is set to maintain its strong foothold in a competitive segment.

Fresh Exterior with Modern Design Updates

Spy shots of the heavily camouflaged test mule reveal that Kia is leaving no stone unturned in revamping the Seltos’ exterior. Among the visible changes are vertically stacked LED taillights with small extensions, providing a modern and sophisticated look. The new Seltos is likely to sport redesigned bumpers, a revamped grille, and fresh headlamps, along with sleeker fog lights and updated ORVMs. Complementing these updates will be a set of stylish new alloy wheels, enhancing the SUV’s overall aesthetic appeal.

Interior Upgrades Expected

While details about the interior are scarce, the next-gen Seltos is expected to carry forward its reputation for offering a premium and tech-loaded cabin. Kia might introduce upgrades to the infotainment system, upholstery, and driver assistance features, ensuring the new Seltos remains competitive in its segment.

Hybrid Powertrain for Cleaner Performance

The 2025 Kia Seltos is anticipated to retain its existing 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and diesel engines, known for their reliability and performance. However, the addition of a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid engine is a major highlight. This hybrid powertrain will enhance fuel efficiency and reduce emissions, aligning with the growing demand for environmentally friendly vehicles.

Rivals in the Mid-Size SUV Segment

Once launched, the new-gen Seltos will face stiff competition from an array of strong contenders, including the Maruti Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and the upcoming Tata Curvv. With its design refresh and hybrid powertrain, the Seltos is expected to carve a niche for itself in this crowded segment.

Launch Timeline and Expectations

The updated Kia Seltos is slated for a launch late next year. With the addition of hybrid technology and design refinements, it promises to be a game-changer in the Indian mid-size SUV market.
