Hyundai Creta EV: Pioneering Hyundai’s EV Journey in India
Taking to its official platform, Hyundai Motor India has announced that it is planning to release a new Creta EV, with this model expected to be unveiled on January 17, 2025, at the Bharat Mobility Expo.
In the specific case of India, the Creta EV is an ambitious first attempt at electrification for Hyundai India, readying itself to create new standards for the mid-size electric SUV segment.
Design and Styling: An Electrified Twist on the Creta
The Creta EV will carry the structural design of the ICE version but will have unique design cues that would differentiate it. These include:
Blanked-out grille: They eliminated the standard grille for better aerodynamics.
Revised bumpers: New front and rear bumper designs help to underline its electric vehicle credentials.
Aero-insert alloy wheels: This would be in addition to contributing both to beauty and functionality.
To achieve this the Creta EV needs to retain some of the dominant design language of the existing Hyundai Creta which the company is convinced about and the second is to successfully infuse as many EV subtleties as possible into the looks of the car which Hyundai has ensured it does.
A Technological Leap: Inside the Creta EV
The interior of the Hyundai Creta EV will receive a major overhaul, blending cutting-edge technology with premium comfort. Highlights include:
Dual 10.25-inch digital screens: Serving as the infotainment and instrument cluster.
Three-spoke steering wheel: A refreshed design offering improved ergonomics.
Dual-zone climate control: Enhancing passenger comfort.
360-degree camera: For unparalleled visibility and parking assistance.
ADAS Suite: Advanced driver assistance systems will elevate safety with features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and more.
The new rotary gear dial and repositioned ventilated seat buttons reflect Hyundai’s thoughtful approach to enhancing cabin usability.
Performance and Range: Breaking New Ground
Beneath the skin, the Hyundai Creta EV could store a 60kWh battery along with a single electric motor. This configuration should provide a power range of 500km on a single charge, which makes it highly competitive in the segment of electric SUVs.
Moreover, true to the rapid charging standards, it can be expected that this lithium-ion battery’s charging time will be minimal enough that would not hamper daily usage of the device.
Rivals and Market Positioning
Once launched, the Creta EV will face stiff competition from established players and upcoming models, including:
MG ZS EV
Tata Curvv EV
Mahindra BE 6
BYD Atto 3
Maruti e-Vitara
Priced competitively, the Creta EV will position itself as an attractive option for buyers seeking a reliable and feature-rich electric SUV.
Hyundai’s Vision for Electric Mobility
Hyundai's new production focused on EVs in India can make Creta EV a major move towards sustainable mobility across the country. Hyundai believes that by combining the features, interiors and range that are available in its latest hybrid cars, it will meet the new demand for electrified vehicles in the Indian market.
Now that Hyundai Creta EV is on the verge of launch, the car is expected to create a revolution in the segment and the company once again will prove its prowess by creating a new benchmark.
