A new e-car from BMW India that belongs to the lineup of electric cars, the BMW iX xDrive50, was unveiled for 1.40 crore rupees (ex-showroom India), which is now available for bookings. This new variant of the higher-spec spec model of the series, i.e the iX xDrive50 is bigger the spec and comes with a larger battery, more powerful motors and several various enhancements over the iX xDrive40 which had an ex-showroom price tag of Rs. 1.21 crore.
The difference in price between a BMW iX xDrive50 (Rs 19,00,000) and the xDrive40 variant comes up to around Rs 19 Lakhs. The motor develops 523hp and 765NM of peak torque, which makes it able to speed up from 0 to 100kph in a claimed 4.6 seconds. The signification feature of the iX xDrive50 over the xDrive40 model in terms of range is the capacity of the 111.5kWh battery pack certified at a spectacular 635km WLTP range, than the xDrive40’s battery pack containing 76.6kWh and range of 425km.
The iX is biased with two electric motors instead of the traditional gas-powered personality – one each on the front and rear axles of the car. This means improved all-wheel drive performance and dynamics. Unlike most EVs that take up to 9 hours to be fully charged, BMW mentions that batteries can efficiently charge from 10 to 80 per cent in about 35 minutes by plugging in into a 195kW DC charger. The asking for other charging options includes 97 minutes of charging with a 50kW DC charger, about 5.5 hours with a 22kW AC charger, and about 11 hours with an 11kW AC charger.
The design and performance of iX xDrive50 are the extraction of xDrive40 with notable changes such as newly developed 22-inch alloy wheels, and adaptive with standard suspension. On the side, additional features, such as 'Laserlight' highlights and Titanium Bronze exterior finish are provided, along with active seat ventilation.
Customers opting for the BMW iX xDrive50 can benefit from a standard 2-year/unlimited km warranty and 5-year roadside assistance. Additionally, the batteries are covered by an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty as standard.
With the introduction of the iX xDrive50 variant, BMW aims to offer a compelling choice for customers seeking high-performance electric SUVs. Positioned as the most expensive model among its rivals, including the Mercedes EQE SUV, Jaguar I-Pace, and Audi Q8 e-tron, the iX xDrive50 sets new benchmarks in the premium electric vehicle segment.
