The 2026 Wuling Hongguang Mini EV arrives as the fifth generation of one of China's most popular budget electric cars, now with four variants, improved range, and a redesigned interior.
A Long-Running Bestseller Gets a Meaningful Generational Update
Wuling has introduced the 2026 Hongguang Mini EV in the Chinese market, priced between CNY 44,800 and CNY 54,800, which translates roughly to Rs 6.15 lakh and Rs 7.53 lakh, respectively. The model has been around since 2020 and has carved out a loyal following as one of the most accessible electric vehicles on the planet.
As of February 2023, global sales since inception marked great sales figures, and at one point, the Mini EV was the best-selling electric car in China. The 2026 iteration, which represents the fifth generation of the nameplate, aims to keep that momentum alive in a segment that has grown noticeably more competitive.
Four Variants, Two Range Options, Pricing Broken Down
Four variants are available, with range options of 205 km and 301 km on the CLTC cycle. The base Advanced variant, priced at CNY 44,800, offers the 205 km range, while the Premium variant at CNY 49,800 matches that figure.
The 301 km Advanced variant shares the same CNY 49,800 price point, and the top-spec Premium variant with the longer range is priced at CNY 54,800.
A Refreshed Exterior That Stays True to Its Compact Roots
The 2026 Hongguang Mini EV retains its four-door, four-seat layout while introducing a refreshed exterior. The compact EV blends boxy proportions with rounded design elements, featuring circular headlamps with LED daytime running lights, a closed-off grille, and a compact bonnet.
The side profile includes body-coloured door handles, blacked-out pillars, and aerodynamically designed alloy wheels. At the rear, the taillamps echo the circular format of the front lighting.
Three new exterior colour options are offered, applied using an eight-layer paint process for improved finish and durability. The vehicle measures 3,268 mm in length, 1,520 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, with a 2,190 mm wheelbase.
Cabin Practicality and Technology Take Centre Stage
Inside, things have moved on considerably. The interior adopts a dual-tone brown and white theme, with a redesigned dashboard offering flexible storage solutions.
A column-mounted gear selector frees up space in the centre console for a roomier feel. The cabin also comes with 20 integrated storage compartments, and with the rear seats folded, boot capacity reaches 838 litres.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system sits at the heart of the dashboard, featuring a refreshed interface with drop-down control menus.
Users can toggle between four preset modes, Rest, Pet Mode, Camping, and Rain/Snow. The system supports Huawei HiCar, Apple CarPlay, and CarLink via over-the-air updates. Remote functions such as vehicle start and air conditioning control are also available.
Powertrain, Performance, and Charging Capabilities
Under the skin, the 2026 Hongguang Mini EV relies on a lithium iron phosphate battery that powers a 30 kW electric motor. The car accelerates from 0 to 50 km/h in 4.56 seconds, with an energy consumption figure of 8.9 kWh per 100 km.
DC fast charging brings the battery from 30 to 80 per cent in 35 minutes. A dedicated battery heating system has also been incorporated for reliable performance in cold weather.
Safety and Structural Engineering
Safety provisions include two airbags and electronic stability control. The body structure uses a ring-shaped cage design, constructed with 60 per cent high-strength steel and incorporating 1,500 MPa material in critical zones. Disc brakes are fitted at all four corners.
